Newbie 'Talkgroup' help!

OK, I'm not quite sure what I just did, but I got it to work. I'm going to bed now and will figure it out in the morning.

BTW, I downloaded Win 97, but do not have a programming cable.

Actually the programming is not too bad once I have things arranged in an order that I like. I've created a spreadsheet to track 'what's programmed where' so I have a quick reference without scrolling through all the channels on the scanner.

I can see where the software method would be a lot easier though. Is there anywhere to get a cable for less than the $32 that Radio Shack wants? What happens to the Win97 after the 30 days; I'm not sure I will have a cable by then?

GRE sells the cable for $29.99 + $10.25 shipping. Definitely not cheaper. Occasionally they show up in the For Sale forums here; and I'm sure you could find one on eBay if you wait long enough. As far as the software goes, there's no reason for you to install it before you have the cable, so you wouldn't start your 30 days before you have the cable.
