It will be nice when the ambulance starts simulcasting the 452.275 over the CLMRN and eventually switches over. That repeater seems to be very low power and therefore isn't easily monitored.

To Cheshire over Ragged Mtn and the land around Castle Craig in your way? I'm surprised you're hearing any of it.

That system always better to the west and north, more than it did south and east.

Actually, I work in Bloomfield so I'm judging the reception from my travel through neighboring West Hartford and it's spotty at best. Same with Bloomfield. Hoping eventually for the same improvement with Avon, since their main tower (due to the mountain) isn't easily monitorable from Bloomfield, but of course the secondary tower is always loud and clear.

I really do miss low band actually, especially when it was repeated. However, I don't miss the huge, long whips or the radios without the PL's. Not that the PL's actually prevented "skip" interference while they were in use.

I don't think it's even possible to even start such a rumor...

I just heard from the person who is in charge of the cutover to to the digital system from the PD, and I am told that the cutover is delayed due to a pending firmware upgrade. No timeline for the cutover is given. I was also told that the current plan is that routine PD calls will be in the clear and not scrambled. (Which is GOOD!)

Now as far as Newington going low band, I have not heard that. And I work with a lot of people from the town. But with that said most of the departments which use radios are NOT moving to the new digital service, the plan was to keep them on the old system. I have not heard for any requests for funding any other new radios or another system. Some of the departments not moving include, the School Systems, Highway Department, Dial a Ride, Parks & Recreation and others.

I am working in Town Hall today so will ask around if anyone knows anything. But honestly people from the town hall have been asking me questions about the move.

Question about Newington fire department are they coming off the LTR system and just going to be simulcast on the state system and conventional as well just like Hartford and will they have fire incident channels on the system as well?
