Word from the recent Board of Fire Commissioners meeting is that they are hoping to go fully operational by January or February. And that they are keeping their fingers crossed on that.

The police are in the same boat as the fire department. It was said in past meetings that the police will be first to go online. They are still trying to work out a deal with the Callahan family on the Callahan Tower site. Needless to say, no one is happy about the delays. It was supposed to have been online this time last year.

Update on the move to CLMRN in Newington.

New Equipment was installed on the Callahan Tower to support CLRMN. It has been tested and appears to be working well.

Templates for the radios have been complete.

I talked to the Police Chief who informed me that the secondary dispatch channel WILL be scrambled. However all regular comms will remain in the clear.

Both Police and Fire are being patched to CLMRN now. EMS was broadcasting on digital for a big and are now gone. I was surprised to hear them on digital as there was no plans to have EMS on the system

Police and FD are now hoping to be fully on the digital signal in the January February timeframe.

So the system that was failing so bad will be kept for DPW and Schools?
I would suspect that they simply reuse the frequencies but they would probably end up with some DMR radios and new repeaters rather than keep the LTR. Just a guess though.

And just echoing what was posted earlier, this is from the Fire Department minutes from last week.

Radio System Update- Chief Trommer, good news this month, all new equipment was installed today at the Callahan site, templet has been approved. No issues as ofright now. Once everything is approved, we can move into next production phase. Hoping to be fully operative by January or February.

I've been hearing more Newington traffic on CLMRN:

  • Newington PD - 19421
  • Newington EMS - 19431
Sounds like they are patched in from their current radio system...

Yesterday the new digital radios started getting installed, starting with Tac-1. They are looking to do a truck radio a day. And the FD will be the first fully moved to the CLMRN system.

Cool I don’t know if this was covered before, but do they plan to stay with the analog conventional channels that they have now? For fire incidents Or did they just plan to use the VHF for fire Page ?

I asked and was given the answer of "they weren't sure."

Shouldn't they know this before they convert?

Now to start building a UID List. I added UID Logging to Proscan, so I can look at at my audio archives and see the UID's and listen to hear who they are - My Scanner Site

Still however only seeing UID 949201 for everyone.
