They're already P25 with E
I don't see much point for them to build their own phase 2 system when Yale just built a brand new site in the city for a much larger and more robust system, I'd assume they would more likely join that.
OK got it. But if they are already P25 with E why do I still hear them on analog. Or did did mean 1 channel is P25 with E. That does not mean the other channels have P25 They would have to change infrastructure. CHannel 2 and 3 repeaters and receivers.

I know at least one is P25 E, but I am unsure of what infrastructure is in place, it very well may be that the other channel(s) equipment is p25 capable, which would just require changes to programming IF they decided to go that way with the rest of it.

To me, it seems like the writing is on the wall for them to join CLMRN in the future, but as we know all too well, cities and towns don't always do things that make sense.

Last I knew, New Hartford was just using Troop B for their constables. Although they do have the town repeater which is pretty antiquated, I don't foresee any upgrades thoug
Tyler, I thought NHPD was the company that made your toilet at home. What an idiot. Stop playing dumb. You and everyone else knows what NHPD stands for.

Relative to NHPD and "E" The Motorola Sabers of ages past had "E" capability. This became evident when the bridge connecting Connecticut Chapel Street South and Sargeant Drive was installed, the NHPD CITYWIDE coms were "E". I asked around with some of the "Brass" and was told "Yeah, we can turn it on and off on our portables" BOOM! Present day, it's not known whether all of the "P" units have "E" capability....but
the primary detective channel (it's not 460.100) is both P25 and "E" full time. Yes, you will hear "I" units come onto the two patrol channels in the clear . That is so when there is a need to coordinate with a marked patrol unit. As far as IS 5 in concerned on 460.100, that is in service sporadically as conditions/volume/budget dictates.

My job takes me right to the heart of New Haven 3 times a week. I carry my Unication G3 at all times to stay informed of any major incidents. The distorted low volume and scratchy audio that comes out of Ch-2,3 sometimes, is unforgivable especially when you think that it’s not public works but a police department. Bottom line, NHPD is in serious need for communications upgrade and /or change. ( old news) I hope this gets resolved sooner rather than later before someone gets hurt.

just to refresh my memory if we're talking about New Haven police and not new hartford today, I saw North East utility truck behind the police station starting to gear up to go in the bucket. It was a bucket truck. I don't know if that means anything, but I just wanna throw that out there.

During the Saber era & the XTS3000 era, I had a keyloader where I developed a algorithm & uploaded it to all the Sabers & xts radios (with full keypad) & uploaded the key to create DVP (Digital Voice Privacy) when they switched to "E" & it would work. The only set back was that when the batteries in the portables were switched, it would lose the encryption key. There was no option in the codeplug program for those radios to turn this option off. The other set back was that the 3 consoles did not have DVP or "E" option so I kept a fully loaded Saber portable with CS-2. At that time, (Sabers in 1992, XTS radios circa 2002) roughly 6 people would use the DVP (E) option when they were doing surveillance in one of the projects. It was a pain reloading the algorithm into the same portable 3-4 times a week
