Jason already correctly answered your question. If you got an early unit with the SMALL capacity battery, you will get the bigger battery shipped to you for free at a later date. If you already have a unit with the big battery, then you will not get a second battery.

If you meant "when", then I think the answer is also obvious. Paul has no further information on shipping other than what he's already posted on the subject (which was an estimate, there's no promised ship date).

I received that same email today but it was from Scanner Master with the subject line "Uniden SDS100 August Update." Here is exactly what it stated verbatim:

"If you already own the SDS100 make sure you register the unit through the Uniden website. Replacement batteries and doors should be shipping soon directly from Uniden."

I called two days ago and the rep told me end of August to get your new battery.
3300mah to 5500mah I can't wait!
The SDS lasts along time now, imagine with a better battery.

That’s not true as far as I can tell.


Only people who purchased the units that came from the first couple of runs that came with the low capacity battery are entitled to the new large capacity battery.

Anyone who purchased a unit that already comes with the large battery will not get an additional battery.

I would be interested to know if Uniden plans to make additional batteries available for purchase. I would love to have the option to buy a spare.

Given the fact that they are proprietary, buying one from a third-party isn’t likely going to be an option (at least not any time in the foreseeable future).

If you got one of these in the box with the scanner my guess is you are eligible for the battery. Just read it and register nothing simpler. No need to keep asking when it will ship to us when they know we will be notified. Asking when we will get it is not going to expedite the process that already has been laid out.

I just spoke with Uniden support who said unless you bought a scanner from them as of yesterday, you have the old batteries. They have not received new battery replacements but hope by mid September they will have all old batteries replaced.

Hmm. They never emailed me. And Gmail doesn't block / spam emails from Uniden. So I know I simply didn't get one. I guess I'll log in and make sure everything looks kosher in My Uniden, even though I already did all of that as soon as I got the scanner.

Same here, no email yet. I'm wondering if they are notifying in the order of the scanners shipped date. I remember that I received my scanner the same day you posted that yours arrived.

I've checked my Uniden registration, everything is correct. Guess I'll just have to keep checking.
