Pre-ordering to get the scanner first, then complaining when they don't get the larger battery first - I see a pattern here...

Also, why do people pre-order? And with no chance of a refund?

The sds100 might have to get listed as a deadly blunt force weapon...

I think simple physics would mean that the antenna would break off at the connector as you swing it due to all the extra weight at the bottom.....You're more likely to hurt yourself.....haha. throw your shoulder out or something...lol

It will be okay!

Also, thanks for pointing this out. We certainly were informed; this is exactly what Uniden said:

But that is not what Uniden did. Instead, when the new batteries were ready, Uniden sent them with new orders first. It did not send me my battery "when it was ready."

I'm not worried as it’s a better way to save money instead of adding what how many hundreds of sales also paying shipping on them. I am a believer that we will get the Batteries.

Geesh, grow up.

Could you elaborate further?
Sorry for the delay. Getting a part ready for consumer distribution requires retail packaging, SKU management, and storage of ready to sell units.

For mass production, they are boxed in large quantities ready for production. They take up less space than their retail counterparts and in many instances, parts are supplied at the correct time, reducing warehousing costs.

New larger battery offering

The larger battery offering was scheduled for August. As we are down to the last week in August, I am waiting to hear more from Uniden. A promised reminder to register (if you have not already done so) and verify a correct mailing address is listed in our information should be showing up this week. I am not sure if the notification will be public or emailed to only those individuals who have registered. But, as I have seen nothing as yet either way, I expect this week will show an uptic in postings regarding the subject.

Doubtful. The radio just fits in the 436 nylon case with the smaller battery. I use this case until I see future offerings for the SDS100 in both form factors.

ColonelMike's right, this has been discussed.

Anyway, it was "projected," not scheduled. They left themselves some wiggle room.

My SDS100 is too sexy for a bigger battery!
:)

Yes, Thin & Sexy is what I like. IMO, It would be a profitable business for Uniden to offer the thin battery and door to SDS100 customers. I believe enough people would order the thin option to make it worthwhile. SDS100 owners could accessorize their scanners for their scanning needs at a particular time. Thin & Sexy or Plump & Saucy. The tooling for this has already been engineered so shouldn't be a problem to produce.

Yeah, and update would be nice, since they did say August, but its no biggie to me really, i dont use my scanner for a long period of time a day, just drives to town etc, its just for mobile use, and i charge it overnight when i use it, so its always ready to go the next day.

Since August was just a projected date for sending free batteries to early adopters, not sure I would be counting on anything.

I will be happy to receive it whenever it is sent, but I find the radio to be very useable with yhe current battery. If I want to scan more than 5 hours, I just plug in a small 10k power supply that I use to charge my phone while mobile. Since it recharges by solar, it sits in the car and is always charged.

Has anyone received new battery for SDS 100?

Hi All,

I bought my SDS-100 as a pre-order and received it with the first shipments that went out. I registered my product right away but as of today's date I haven't yet received my new battery and battery door cover.

I understand that some of the new radios have been shipping with updated batteries.

Has anyone actually received a new battery and compartment door that bought an SDS-100 and registered through the website?

The estimate was "around August":

Ok, one disappointment on the final units with final battery. I really don't like battery life (max 320 minutes). So, we'll change to a high-capacity battery (entails a new battery door and making the unit about 8mm thicker at the base...which should actually relieve those of you worried about instability).

But, we aren't going to delay first shipments. Instead, all first adopters with the "standard" battery will get a free extended battery+battery door once they are available, around August. All you'll have to do is register the scanner and we'll automatically send when ready.

Here's the notice we're putting in the box for those first units:
I don't see why everyone is getting antsy. It's not as if the original battery suddenly stopped working.
