I've been picking up 168.475 with a P25 NAC of 4F9 for some time now but it sounds heavier than Park Rangers to me, I'll keep listening.

172.425 P25-167 FBI Bravo 5 ?

171.650 P25-293 ?

168.475 NAC 4F9 is in fact the North repeater for Delaware Water Gap Rangers and Park Operations.

171.650 NAC 293 is the Independance Hall National Historic Park (INHP) Rangers in Philly. They have a pretty strong signal and I frequently pick them up all the way up in Morris Co..

VA Lyons

I am fairly certain that the following is the VA Police for the Hospital at Lyons but would appreciate an independent confirmation from someone in the area before I post it. Thanks.

409.4375 NAC 293 (Input 418.4375)

That would be Hopewell Furnace NHP in PA, near Valley Forge; although maybe, if the signal is strong enough, it could be the missing freq. that I'm looking for. I'll plug it in and doing some monitoring the next time I'm up in that area. Thanks crew.

172.400 is actually used at several small NPS sites in PA, Hopewell included.

Could it be used at a small site in NJ? Seems like a long way from southern Berks County, PA to Warren County, NJ.

Hi Folks:

Just to update your notes, where applicable:

The Edison National Historical Park in West Orange, NJ has re-opened once again, and is running simplex ops on 164.47500 NAC 40E (same freq. as Morristown NHP, different NAC).

Unknown if they are running on a repeater; I did not find anything as an input while they were talking on it, and the signal strength varied as each unit was talking [toys used were BC296D and PSR 500].

NJ Federal - FBI

I've been noticing for the past week that the FBI in Newark has been doing radio checks/station identification on various repeater channels on the :15 & :45 of the hour. I've been able to catch a new freq. of 173.1750 $167 as C1/3/5/7. I'll doing some investigating to see what else I can catch...

Also, another side note, I've noticed that 173.4500 $167 is an FBI channel in the Central Monmouth/Ocean Co. area possibly identified as E3/4.

Nice to see everyone liked my Campus Police post!

Here's some of what I have confirmed:

168.6750R P25 Delaware Water Gap Operations North (Rangers included)
170.0500R P25 Delaware Water Gap Operations South (Rangers included)
165.1875 94.8 DOD Police - Picatinny Arsenal
163.5125 107.2 Picatinny Arsenal FD/EMS
163.9375R 167.9 FBI - Newark
169.3750 167.9 FBI - Newark
168.9750 167.9 FBI - Newark
169.9750 167.9 FBI - Newark
165.5125R 103.5 Secret Service - Newark Field Office
165.6875R 103.5 Secret Service - Newark Field Office
140.5000R CSQ Earle NWS Police
150.1250R 173.8 Earle NWS FD/EMS
142.8500R ? Earle NWS FD F2
140.1250 ? Lakehurst Naval Air Station

I beleive that 415.0500R 107.2 are the Postal Police - Newark, NJ, not the inspectors but perhaps they share the same frequency!?

Just curious, but I thought FBI/USSS used encryption. have'nt even put them in.

Thank G-d for Auto-mute...

sragen,

To satisfy your curiosity, you thought correctly. Yes, both the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Secret Service do use encryption - but not all of the time.

By not putting them into your scanner, you are denying yourself potential (albeit difficult) monitoring opportunities. You have to decide, if your scanner doesn't auto-mute encrypted radio traffic, if it's worth it to you to have to listen to hours or days of white noise and high pitched squeals to catch the occasional in-the-clear radio traffic.

NJ Federal Freqs.

As a follow-up to my previous response on this thread, I've noticed the following:

Newark NJ Area:
169.9750 $167 R FBI A-1
167.3625 $167 R FBI A-5
169.6250 $167 R FBI A-7
173.1750 $167 R FBI C-1 ??
169.6375 $167 R FBI C-5 ??
163.8625 167.9 R FBI Unid
168.9750 $167 R FBI Unid
173.8125 167.9 R FBI Unid
172.2875 NAC ?? Unid Agency
406.3375 $482 R USPS Unid ?? (Possible Postal Police?)
407.7250 $482 R USPS Inspection Service

South-Central NJ Area:
173.4500 $167 R FBI E-3/4 ??

Any and all corrections are most welcome, and above all else:
- Have fun monitoring, but don't spill the beans to everyone on the contents of active surveillance/investigating on the forums... (keep it to yourself so the ENC isn't kept on all the time). :)

Good list GM, here are my few additions/corrections to your list

172.2875 NAC 653 is one of the interop frequencies
173.8125 NAC 167 is C9 in NYC

All the NAC 482 should be USPIS,

By the way, I've heard 407.725 NAC 482 as Trenton Dispatch for USPIS, again 90% encrypted :)

Meanwhile, I have the following frequencies that I think originate from Newark based on signal strength, but I never heard any identifier on them.

167.1750
167.2375
167.3875
167.9000
168.3500
168.3750
168.7000
168.7500
168.9750
169.3750
169.9000
169.9375
170.3750

They all have 167.9 for PL and/or NAC 167.

Before I submit the info to RR.com's database, I want to ensure that it's 100% accurate. I've jumped the gun before and don't want to submit incorrect info on there. :)

Also, I've just close called/signal stalked a USPS Inspectors Repeater (407.7250 $482) at the top of the Telegraph Hill in Holmdel next to the NJSP Troop E barracks on the GSP. I'm guessing that the repeater is either at the PNC Bank Arts Center, or the one on Rt. 34 in Holmdel/Marlboro.

Any other updates, I'll be sure to post so we can all cross-verify. :)

Looks like 172.2875 $167 is related to the FBI based on a new tone observed, and a radio check heard on it based out of Newark. Maybe has multiple NAC's for different uses??

Also, I've noticed that the FBI Newark Base radio checks vary now by time, but mostly based around the :15 & :45 past the hour still.

Hi Folks,

I have been watching this thread for a while now and a few submissions have been made to RR in this category.
Either Scott W2SJW or I will create the sub category in the NJ Data base "state" page very soon. (Next few days or so)
Although this forum topic can be a place to post new info, it would be better served if new information is submitted to RR in the prescribed manner.

Thanks again for reading :D!
