Did anyone see the update yesterday (3-Nov-24) of the Craigmeur Lookout Wildfire? I was looking through the photos on bookface and one of the NJ Forestry firefighters was using a Baofeng radio with a bright orange antenna. Forestry service (NJ DEP) is that tight that they can't get their guys proper radios for the job?
That must be Wranglestar.

I've noticed that with my aging eyesight, some of the BK/Relm portables look a bit like Chinesium Baofeng type HTs.
The People's Republic of New Jersey should limit some of the ridiculous social spending and equip EVERY Forest Firefighter with a durable, rugged and RELIABLE means of communication.

Most states have elaborate comms established for their wildfire teams, including a decent radio infrastructure with deployable portable repeaters, etc...

I'd hate to be in the middle of a conflagration with a Baofeng or equivalent p.o.s. as my only means of communicating.
