I had posted in the uniden community about an issue I’m just experiencing as of today. I’m located in Biddeford. I had just recieved my new Uniden SDS100 a few weeks ago. I commonly have been monitoring the Portland P25 channel. I had been getting pretty decent reception here in Biddeford. As of this morning the signal strength bar doesn’t show anymore, meaning I am somehow out of range. I was told the site frequencies may have changed / encryption may be present, or my radio is simply fried or broken already…. It’s not even a month old yet… I was only able to get reception today at the intersection of south st and Elm st here in biddo. just driving thru that specific intersection I picked up south Portland PD for a few seconds then the signal completely tanked again as I drove away. And as stated before signal had been pretty decent here. I am still able to pick up other stuff both digital and analog. Anyway, I was hoping if someone can confirm if that channel is working properly or if there may have been a system change or.. whatever.

Just read through your other comments, I am not as confident in the weather theory, however I can confirm that channels are as they have been and are not encrypted.

All is working normal for me (in Portland).

I suspect what has happened is related to the upcoming storm. I believe this is the first "major" storm we've had in a while, which is why up to this point you've had a strong signal (Portland P25 does well at getting out there).

See: how do different weather conditions effect scanners?
That’s what I had thought.. but the Uniden community on here all seemed adamant that it’s an issue with the radio and it may be broken already. I shall wait until it passes to see if it goes back to normal.
