School Fire?

Does anyone know what the fire was in Hamilton or Hillsboro area (started with an H) this morning or mid-day? They requested a FM and a School Board rep to the scene.

There was a fire in the kitchen at the Hillsboro Community Center (which, if memory serves, is part of the old school building). The fire extended to the walls.

A badly-decomposed body has been found in the Potomac River near Riverbend Park (8700 Potomac Hills St in Great Falls - Fairfax County). It's apparently about 200-ft off the shore, tied up in some debris. Fairfax-1 was used to pinpoint the exact location, but all radio traffic has moved to Montgomery County's 7C which I can't receive from here. They're treating it as a crime scene.

Possible hostage situation in Lovettsville near the fire house. That's what it's sounding like anyways. Ops on Tac 2 and 3.

I have not heard any references to this being an exercise.

Two white male suspects, one black male. One made a comment about 5.56mm rounds. Two 'hostages' at least one is a female.
1931- The SERT and negotiations are enroute.
UniTrunker shows the LCSO Command vehicle is on scene. Seems awfully quick for a real event. Yet now they're coordinating to shut down roads and such.

2025- A suspect came out holding a female hostage around the neck, has a gun on his hip.
Subjects have threatened to shoot or blow up deputies.

2150- Subject says he will detonate devices at 2200. Supposedly they are on a timer and can be triggered remotely.

2225- Subjects have given up.

Had to be an exercise. LCSO now talking about an "observer" that is still in the house.
2231- "End Scenario"

Kind of amazing they never made a solid reference to it being an exercise until now. Andrews AFB police do exercises nearly every day and when doing so they say "exercise" at the end of every transmission.

Lemish: check the post right above yours from freqhopping. There's a hostage situation active on TAC 2. Sounds like the three hostage takers are giving up and are in custody (or in the process of being placed in custody) but state there are devices in the house with tripwires deployed. Talk of the robot doing the clearing of the house rather than the deputies.

Edit: and it was a scenario, as freq mentioned. They had us goin'... :)

He must have been editing his post as I was editing mine ;-)

I heard the end of the session on tac2 where they mentioned the observer and then dinner in the classroom.

I still dont know what was going on in my neighborhood - that was for real, just dont know what it was and I guess everyone was probably listening to tac 2 instead of east dispatch.

Thanks,

Sounds like a bomb threat incident going on in Leesburg somewhere around the Blockbuster on E. Market St. All the roads around there have been blocked. The county bomb squad is on scene. Ops are on Leesburg Ch.1

1339- FM reports no explosives have been found in the device.

Incident on LCP

Loudoun Co 23 was dispatched to "assist the sheriff's office" in the area of 21059 Loudoun County Parkway. They've set up command, but not a lot of traffic on fire or PD side as to what's going on. Anyone have an idea?

A Maryland man is in custody after making statements of a possible bomb Friday morning in South Riding.

The man, a 62-year-old, from Prince George's County, MD, approached two deputies in the parking lot of the Riding Plaza shopping center shortly after 8 AM and attempted to hand them a box. The man made statements regarding a bomb.

Deputies covered and concealed the man's vehicle and ordered him to exit the car. He was taken into custody.

The Loudoun County Bomb Squad is currently on the scene and is investigating the contents of the package. A portion of the shopping center has been closed to the public as a precaution.

There is a developing situation in Loudoun Co. Something to do with a man with a gun that they fear may shoot someone. They are not sure where he is, but a deputy has been in phone contact with him on occasion. The SERT will be staging in a location away from his home and another team will be available to respond to another location is necessary. Ops on currently on the west channel but will likely change to another one. They are getting the negotiations van ready.

Location in Lovettesville about 2 houses down from the Lovettesville Mini Mart right near Lovettesville Elem. Suspect apparently said he would kill any office that came near him. SERT was staging at the fire station in Hamilton then moved to fire station in Lovettesville. Reports that he was a Vietnam Vet, retired from Leesburg PD and was at one time a negotiator for the PD. They talked to his wife and she said he had gun and takes meds for heart issues and psychological issues (either he forgot a dose or needs more). Wife also reports that he was babysitting a 12YO girl earlier today.

SERT established a perimeter a little while ago and are at the present time are closing in on the house with the instruction of a SERT member in a location (I'm not getting specific) with a good view.

An on-scene source told me RT15 is/was open but all side streets are closed.

I think this started with a BOLO for a pickup (his) about 2:30PM. I think he was reported being disorderly in a convince store and then left in a green Toyota Tacoma truck with front-end damage. Units started heading that way and then the report of him killing any office and would die by "suicide by cop". They stepped it up and then a female duty officer told them to stand down and the call was canceled. There was someone that said it was a bad idea to cancel the call. I then heard 2 officers (maybe of SERT) talking on Car-to-Car West and discussed alerting SERT. After that, one was on the West Dispatch and stated for the call to be re-opened and to page SERT to stage at the Hamilton fire station.

After getting home, I saw where they attempted to use TG1880 with encryption it wasn't all encrypted and it only lasted a few mins. I did hear them doing radio tests; I guess they scrapped it and went to the West Dispatch.

UPDATE: 18:09, suspect tazed and in custody. EMS to meet them at the fire house.

UPDATE: 06/26/08

Just got this:

Lovettsville Man Held After Barricade Situation

A Lovettsville man is being held on a temporary detention order after threatening his life and the lives of law enforcement.

Loudoun Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a home on South Loudoun Street around 3:15 PM Wednesday after a 59-year-old man contacted authorities and made suicidal statements. The man also made comments that he had a firearm and he did not want law enforcement showing up at his residence.

Members of the Sheriff’s Office Emergency Response Team and the Hostage Negotiations Unit responded to the scene. It was unclear at the time as to whether anyone else was inside the home and if they were being held against their will. After nearly three hours of on and off negotiations, the man was persuaded to exit his house and he was taken into custody.

The man is being held on a Temporary Detention Order at a local hospital.

There is a structure fire in the area of Rt50 and Elk Lick Rd. Currently there are Loudoun, Fairfax, Prince William and Dulles airport units working it. I believe eastbound Rt50 is shutdown. Ops on 6C, Command on 6E, 6D is for the medevac.

A burn victim is going to be flown out by Medstar-4. 30 minutes into the incident now.

Loudoun FD units are still on the scene of a house fire that was dispatched several hours ago now. It's on Rim Rock Circle in Leesburg. Units from Co 1,5,6,18 and Fairfax 39 are involved. It's not far down the road so I figured I'd check it out, especially after I heard a second alarm was called. It initially didn't sound like much but after hearing about a couch on fire and it spreading I figured they might have something. It ended up really big. I was surprised to see what I did. It sure didn't take long.

Check out the pics. I wasn't the only one taking pictures. The entire neighborhood seemed to be there yet kept out of the way. Had that been my neighborhood I would've been out there with ice water for the crews. It was a scorcher and it was taking some time the get a canteen out there.

You can see the new Co 1 and 5 trucks. Really nice.

Fatality Accident Loudoun

06:00 - RT15 at Creaton Farm Lane (I think this is what the dispatcher said, but I can ony find a Courtland Farm Lane). Vehicle under a tractor-trailer, truck on fire. Fire fighter on scene stated if there was anyone in the vehicle under the truck, they are deceased.

Sounds like RT15 is shut down a little south of Leesburg to RT50.

NOTE: If you want to listen to the stream, please PM me.

---------------------
Route 15 is Closed From Route 50 at Gilbert's Corner to Tail Race Road due to a Major Accident. Motorists should expect major delays in this area.
