Accidental keylock enabled? Go through a basic process of elimination. You can also go here to help the process along.I have a Radio Shack Pro 106 & last night it worked fine, this morning it will not scan any of the Department's i have programed in it & the WX button don't work either , what happened to my scanner ?
Are you saying the physical button itself doesn't work or rather when you press it, does it register a press but you're not hearing WX broadcasts? Both scenarios aren't good news...the WX button don't work either ,
If the keypad isn't locked, I'm thinking that the OP may have lost the CPU firmware, which is a common occurrence with that scanner. There is no way of knowing if the OP doesn't let us know what the display shows. I have the CPU updater to get it back into service if that is the case. Are you saying the physical button itself doesn't work or rather when you press it, does it register a press but you're not hearing WX broadcasts? Let us help you and perhaps save you some cash. It may very well be a firmware issue or an issue that can easily be fixed. I had experienced the same problem years ago with my Pro106. It's still a great radio and mine has never had any other issues since fixing the firmware problem.I talked to G&G communication in NY & explained to them what was going on with my RS Pro 106 & they advised me to up grade to another scanner because my Pro 106 is over 25 yrs old & there is no part's for it any more being RS is out of business & there is no part's for it, thank you all for the reply's

I have the firmware updater which I can attach and you can fix it yourself if that is the problem. I need to know if your display says something like uP ver NONE. When you press buttons, do you see a message at the bottom of the screen that says Key locked?Where do i send my scanner to fix my firmware if that's the problem ?
This is what my scanner shows = uP BootVer : RF1.2 / uP App Ver : RF1.8 / CPU SW Upgrade Wait for PC/IFI have the firmware updater which I can attach and you can fix it yourself if that is the problem. Alright, that would rule out loss of firmware then...This is what my scanner shows = uP BootVer : RF1.2 / uP App Ver : RF1.8 / CPU SW Upgrade Wait for PC/IF
I believe it shows the OP has version 1.8 and it is in firmware update mode (Wait for PC/IF). The latest version is 2.1. scannerprogrammin we should be able to get the scanner working again. Save the attached zipped file to your computer and extract. Turn your scanner on and connect your computer to the scanner with the programming cable. Run the CPUUpdater.Alright, that would rule out loss of firmware then...
NO! Whistler scanners use different firmware. Use this CPUUpdater for the WS1065: WS1040/WS1065 Scanner Firmware Updates and Downloads The WS1040 and WS1065 use the same firmware. This Firmware would work on my Whistler WS1065 wouldn't it?
OK, thanks for the info on my RS Pro 106, now for the next problem, i have never did ANY Firmware up date & or software programing to a scanner because i have all ways did all by manually programing & i'm afraid that if i did this to my scanner i may burn it up, so what do i do now ?I believe it shows the OP has version 1.8 and it is in firmware update mode (Wait for PC/IF).
