What is the call sign/ unit number when it comes up?
It will show as NPS Ambulance in the CAD and the engines will show as NPS Engine 1 or 2. They are dispatched by the NPS in Del. Water Gap. I don't know if they are able to come up on Pike Fire or EMS radio.

Actually, it's simply NPS EMS, it's right there on the page (along with NPS DWGNRA FIRE).

33 Ambulance is Milford FD Ambulance. NPS Ambulance will just say DWGNRA Ambulance since they only have 1.
They must keep it here then 41.096239166112206, -75.00276357205848. This is where they keep NPS Fire. We know they have two engines and one ambulance and station has 3 bays.

This is what it will look like in the CAD when they are dispatched to a call in Pike County.

Although NPS EMS shows up on the CAD, the NPS does not have an ambulance. When you see NPS EMS on the CAD it means the NPS is sending Rangers as first responders, including some that are paramedics. This is information direct from the source.

I have seen the ambulance myself on a call. It is orange and white with a van front and a box rear. Now that was about 5 years ago and they may have gotten rid of it but they did have one.

I tend to agree with ^this^ because the source says they've not had an ambulance in the past either. I asked this question specifically.
Listen, I'm not a stupid kid with no experience. I've been in emergency services for 41 years and I know what I saw. It was NOT the delaware township ambulance. I know how to read. It had the NPS sticker right on the driver and passenger door of the cab!!!!!!!! I'm not saying another thing!!!!!!!

I drove by today and caught them while putting the trucks away at the station. They have 2 engines and a utility stored there. I also asked about the ambulance and they said what mark40 basically said.

Have noticed a recent trend, whereby dispatch appears to be in the E mode.

To confirm, programmed a conventional analog scanner to the north repeater frequency. Received the telltale hash noise of E, and at the same no transmission on the P25 scanner. Subsequent reply transmissions were in the clear on the P25 scanner, and of course hash on the analog scanner as expected.

I've recently moved farther away from the park and at first thought it might be an antenna or performance issue. But then recalled that about 10 years ago it was fairly common to have E on dispatch. Had a Whistler scanner at that time and it produced a busy signal when the big E was present, making it easy to know what was what.

I'm listening to 168.475 with my APX right now and I hear the dispatcher just fine, ID 7503001 in the clear.

You can hear the difference between unencrypted and encrypted P25 on an analog scanner?

That's good. I just received dispatch clear as well @ 1623 hours

GTR: I don't have a lot of experience with agencies having E capabilities. Is it common for a dispatch to turn it on and off depending on circumstances? Its literally been years since I've only heard field units clear and dispatch not clear.

Common? No, I wouldn't say so. Having selectable encryption can be a real PIA. Far too easy to accidentally put something over the air clear that you meant to be secure because you forgot to "flip the switch" first. I'll never understand the idea of having dispatch secure and units in the field clear...should be all or nothing. At the very least, strap dispatch secure so that there's no chance of a message going out in the clear that shouldn't have.

Clearly (pun intended) DWGNRA doesn't have the dispatch consoles strapped for secure mode, and to be honest although I don't listen to them that often (or don't pay full attention), I really can't recall not hearing dispatch and/or seeing the secure LED flashing on my APX when I have paid attention. I suppose it's possible that one console was set to secure years ago and from time to time that console is being used if you've confirmed that there is encryption in use part-time from dispatch.

I suppose I can see about getting DSD+ running on the frequency for a week or so to see if any secure hits are logged. 🤷‍♂️

It could be me and my HP2, would not totally rule it out. That's why I tried the experiment today with analog side by side w/ p25.

But absolutely, way back, have the memory of the Whistler busy signal when monitoring their system. That's why I was surprised to only hear half conversations in the last couple of weeks after years of all clear comms.

If you get around to the DSD+ that's great, otherwise I do run into Rangers and Wildland Crews from time to time with my Vol.FD and I will ask about it. Appreciate your help and input, thanks.

I don’t know about Pike, but I’ve never heard NPS units on any Monroe Co channels. You’re more likely to hear state units, rather than than feds interoperate on county channels, at least in this area.
