In reviewing the use of a number in number tags, the 3896xt requestring the system number as well as the number assigned. Numberassigned is easy with Freescan, but where is the system number at. I have all systems assigned quick keys, or group keys. The key assigned to a system is not the same as the number assigned a system, for the number key usage. A popular frequency, I pressed hold, then function and got a number for thesystem that I didn't .assign but it worked. Using Freescan , I see to place where a system number is assigned or generated. If it is, I am just missing it.

I passed it by as being a question about Freescan.

I'll try to be alittle clearer. With the radio, no freescan yet, it selecting a number tag, it says input the system number then the no key and then the number assigned to the channel/frequency to allow paid movement to a particular spot you want to go to. This would approximate going to a channel number like we did with previos scanners. My question is where does the system number come from?

Now in Freescan, assigned quik keys otr system keys, these numbers do not dquate to the system number thatr is used in the 396xt.

I am trying to find out where is the system number at, and with Freescam, BcTool+, Arcxt, some software that allows you to see the system number that I can use with the 396xt.

The easier to read manual tells you what to do buty not the "where" the number is at.

In FreeSCAN, the system number tag is assigned on the system page at the bottom. Highlight the system - not a site or a group - and look for the "XT Options" box in the lower left corner of the right window. Below "Emerg Alert Light Colour" (and its pulldown menu) is "Number Tag" with NONE in the default.

In the radio itself, it's in Program System>(select system)>Sys Options>Set Number Tag.

The system number tag is the first part of the T001.001 on the top line of the display - the first 001 - as seen in the diagram in that Easier to Read Manual snippet I linked earlier.
