F-35 fighter jets were sent up to investigate after the object was first detected on Thursday, according to a US official. Kirby told reporters that the first fly-by of US fighter aircraft happened Thursday night, and the second happened Friday morning. Both brought back “limited” information about the object.

But the pilots later gave differing reports of what they observed, the source briefed on the intelligence said.

Some pilots said the object “interfered with their sensors” on the planes, but not all pilots reported experiencing that.

Some pilots also claimed to have seen no identifiable propulsion on the object, and could not explain how it was staying in the air, despite the object cruising at an altitude of 40,000 feet.

I hear the aliens got out a distress msg before the missile hit and now more are on the way. We should be surrounded by aliens real soon.
It is problematic in that we can't be shooting everything out of the sky with AIM-9X missiles. It will be both costly and dangerous. This is what "space lasers" are for. Or at least install a cheap hobby "green laser" on an F22 POD and carve small vent holes in the balloon.

Shooting down intruders at high altitudes will invite China to take same response to our U2 aircraft. Surprisingly those are still flying missions despite SR71 cancellation. Next we will be targeting each others spy satellites. Sad that we have reached this state of affairs.

I am curious why this has been going on unnoticed for so long. Does NORAD have ability to resolve the small RCS signature of a balloon payload? Have "we" known all along that this was happening and now suddenly feigning concern? Or did the establishment of a "space force" or "UFO force" create an information silo?

Its a balloon frenzy. They're going to need a FAA registry for balloons or risk being shot down. But look at the flip side, this is great, any real UFOs will be checked out more than ever before
