Definately a must have for my collection when it is released in 2006...

one question - is this GPS feature only applicable to N. America systems / linked to RR DBase ?

just asked cuz i'm not USA based but i use a GPS with the Trinidad Map.

I wanted a base model scanner/receiver with all-mode coverage and TrunkTracker IV. Guess I will have to wait. GPS? I wonder what kind of alpha tags come with the GPS feature.

I was hoping for something useful! :(
What's next, a GPS-enabled coffee pot?

I'll wait for the rebanded version of the 780 (I have absolutely no use for the digital reception either).

Multiple site trunking. Smartzone systems, step back. The U express is chugging through. That's awesome. You go Uniden

A couple of things that really would be nice that I haven't heard (yet):

1. Detachable/Remote mount control head
2. USB Programming
3. Large enough display for mobile environment
4. Large enough buttons for mobile environment

I hope that Uniden has been listening and time will tell. Itdoes sound like some neat features, but the DIN mounting reminds me of something the size of the PRO2096.

Love the idea of multi site trunking. Oh how long this has been needed.

Hey Upman: Hope you had an enjoyable vacation.
I know it might be a lot to ask but PLEASE don't forget about us poor, cold Canadians up here when it comes to the tracking systems. Perhaps a different, downloadable firmware for the preprogrammed Canadian systems? Just a fantasy. Otherwise, sounds like this could be the best of the best yet.

Can I hear tears falling to the ground from the folks at GRE???

Don't hold your breath. The 780 is outdated technology and won't be used as a platform for a new scanner.

I'm not going to get too worked up yet, I want something that works, not a lot of toy value.
What about narrowband that really works, with the right step size instead of rounding.
How about 380-400mhz and 700mhz trunking.
How about digital you do not have to adjust, like GRE.

I will wait and see what the specs are before saying this is the greatest thing to come along.

"700mhz trunking."

Does have it, just like the 396T.
