Why am I only hearing troup J & K here in Hattiesburg.
I would think you should be able to hear the whole state.
Must have something to do with the towers I am able to pick up.
I will be the first to admit that I don't know all there is to know about the
MSWIN network.

You will only hear traffic on talk groups that are active on the towers that are in your receivers range. In order for the talk group to be active, then an end user radio with said frequency must be affiliated with that tower site.

Essentially, it wouldn't make sense to flood the network with traffic to send it to a tower site where nobody is capable of receiving said traffic.

Just remember, you could potentially hear ANY MHP in the mix at any time as they do transfer around for special assignments, special ops, training etc... This is especially true during hurricane season, and in Jackson. Not to mention, around the district borders, you could hear all kinds of interaction going on. Back in the Low Band days, I used to hear a lot of Troops J and C working with M on a regular basis. And when I lived in Jackson, I would regularly hear units from every district coming to HQ.

That's pretty much what I had figured.
Thank you for that info.

True that... I quite often hear traffic from Meridian, Greenwood and Batesville MHP districts, here at my location in the Northeast part of the state, and of course I get New Albany and Starkville constantly.

MDOT Enforcement is the one agency that I seem to hear the most diverse locations from though... as the rest of you no doubt know, you can hear them all over the state doing their thing throughout the day.

When it's phase 1, it will say P25 on the display. When it's phase 2, you'll see either PT0 or PT1 in the same spot.

Correct, the 0 or 1 referring to the timing slot in use I believe. (Phase II using TDMA 2 Slot)

Kinda thinking eventually we will have to come up with a new way to display this data in the database for you guys... (Like if an SO uses TG 34005, Slot 1 for dispatch, Slot 2 for on scene tac?..... Maybe something like 34005 1, and 34005 2??? Who knows which way that will get resolved eventually)

Slots are assigned dynamically like the channels on a trunked system so a user won't be assigned to a specific slot.

On the 436/536, PT0 = Slot 0, PT1 = Slot 1

I wondered why I could not find this information in the manual that came with my 436.
The reason is, it is not in there. I had downloaded a manual to read while I waited for my 436 to be delivered. I quit reading the downloaded manual when my scanner arrived. So today I pulled up the downloaded manual and right there on page 30 was this information.. I looked in the manual that came with my scanner, this information is not there. Go figure. I think I will be printing out the downloaded manual,
No telling what else was left out.

Not sure if you've seen them or not, but the Easier to read manuals are much more user friendly and informative. Here's the links for the 436/536 radios and also the Sentinel software. If you like these better, they can be purchased in printed form from Scanner Master.

You're more than welcome. He has them for several different models of scanners, and I have each one bookmarked for each scanner that I have. I have found them to be MUCH better than the manuals that come with the radios.

Added.. Also updated F&W to reflect they have TDMA capability, and are using it at least in Jones County.

Lee County Switched over today. Here's a link to the story on WTVA:
Lee County moves to new emergency radio system

I'll post more talkgroups as soon as possible.

There's also a new site in Lee County, 3 045. The CC is 772.73125. I'm not sure of the other frequencies. I'm sure they just used one of their existing towers, but I'm not sure which one yet.

My only scanner now is a BCD536HP, so I can't currently run either of those programs, but I programmed that control channel in and it's been carrying a good bit of traffic this morning. Also I have logged 14 new, unknown TG's this morning, in about a 10 minute span but haven't been able to ID them yet, other than one is an EMS TG.
