Again, the bug should have been (and I believe was) fixed with the 2096 CPU 1.1 as well (actually, I believe it never existed in the 2096 at all), and was definitely fixed in 96 CPU 1.3. The implication of your post is that 2096 1.2 fixes this problem. It does not. It may fix it from your view, but the issue was fixed over a year ago and is not directly relevant to 2096 CPU 1.2 at all, or even the PRO-2096 at all.

I am only trying to say that I could not get them before with the version of Pro 96 that I have. Now that I have a 2096 also I can receive those mutual aid tg's that we have in the 40xxx area.

I don't know how it is that you are interpreting that I am saying version 1.1 of the Pro 2096 could not.

Usually when someone says "Version X can even do this", it's an implication that previous versions could not.

All I'm saying is that it was fixed long before version 1.2, or before the release of the PRO-2096, so the fact that the latest version CPU in the 2096 doesn't have the bug is not surprising. FWIW, it also doesn't have the TG L/O or CQPSK bugs which were both fixed before the 48xxx bug.

But, dropping it is fine with me. I appreciate the info that there is a CPU version 1.2 for the 2096 now. (whatever it fixes or accommodates)

Just picked up the pro 2096 base station and am playing with it for now. Waiting to see what Iget for listening. Local Radio Shack programmed it and I havn't manually gone through to see what they put in. Still have a few banks left for additional ones if needed.

My srch key is really dim and also right side of func key and left side of wx ke is but it's just from led spacing. They can't cover the whole thing. I wish someone had a tutorial on how to change the leds out for a different color, like blue :) and a brighter output. I think I might have look into that and make one myself!!

You want a tutorial? Replace the yellow LEDs with Blue LEDs of similar specifications. ;->

Really, it shouldn't be that hard after you open up the front of the unit.

That has to be some skillfully understated sarcasm there. The LEDs are very small and are surface mounted. Changing them is a very difficult job. I would not recommend attempting it. However, if you honestly think the required soldering and desoldering job is easy, I suggest you try doing it on your own scanner first and then tell us all just how easy it was afterwards. At the very least this should prove entertaining (to the rest of us if not to you personally).

I was being sarcastic about changing LEDs. They are ulra small and even if I did attempt it, I don't have a steady enough hand to do the work, ::works on plan for robotic arms:: :)

Well, since I work on surface mount components on a regular basis, you will understand if I forego your challenge. ;) I was working on chip resistors and chip caps 20 years ago.

I never said the job was particularly easy - just the concept. Changing the color merely requires changing the LEDs. It's that simple.
