Okay I'm utterly confused now. On my pro96 I can't hit FUNC TRUNK TG # FUNC TRUNK. I have to hit PGM TRUNK, scroll tothe ID, or hit TRUNK again to cycle through the ID banks then hit FUNC TRUNK again to select. While on the Unidens I just hit MAN TG # i.e. 13 the MAN again. Are we talking about the same thing? I have a feeling you mis-understood me.

Yep. I messed up SLIGHTLY. It's PGM TRUNK <TG#> FUNC TRUNK

I just did it with: PGM TRNK 123 FUNC TRUNK

Try it. You will have to leave the first slot as the scratchpad, but it still works fine and is only two buttons longer than the Uniden.

No, that just erases the current ID and replaces it with whatever number you punched in. I have this strange feeling where not on the same page, either that or I'm mental. Maybe it's the late hour? (it's 11:30) Oh well I'll live for the time being. I do want my 2096 though. Wait I need a car first

Yes, you have to ENTER the ID. As I said, you use the one memory slot as a scratchpad. Later, if you want to hold on the same ID, just hit PGM TRUNK FUNC TRUNK and that's it.

Duh!!!!!!! Okay that's somewhat helpful. Thanks. :D Actually if you already entered that ID somewhere else you do get the text tag.

Really?

I have the F1.1 version of the CPU, and if I enter ID 00003, I get "ID# 00003" - despite the fact that it has a different name elsewhere down the list.

BTW, if it's a duplicate ID, you may have to hit ENTER twice.

What he means, is that you just scroll to it, press FUNC, TRUNK and voila, you're holding an ID with text tag :)

OK, but the purpose of this method is direct entry (no scrolling).

I don't have the Pro-96 yet, are the ID banks configured the same as the 95, only 50 more slots for IDs? (Press Trunk and it will skip 20 IDs.)

How many ID banks are there?

No that's not what I mean. I now have a scratchpad slot. Whenever I want to change IDs I press PGM+TRUNK, The blank spot comes up, I enter lets say ID 1648, I get the duplicate ID warning, I hit enter again, and it holds on and displays the original text tag. At least that's what it does on mine. Is this an anomaly?

By 'original' text tag, do you mean the tag that was labelling your scratchpad slot? If so, yes, it will display that.

Anything on the FCC web site, any Pictures of the new scanner.

Not yet. It hasn't received type acceptance yet.

There is something new from a company called Repidtrade. Not sure exactly what it is, as the docs aren't there yet.

Seems to be an Air band scanner

So it displays the tag from the ID that's already there? Mine just overwrites everything, and then uses the default tag of whatever the TG number is...Maybe the 1.2 CPU handles it differently than my 1.1 CPU...[/quote]

Yup. Here's a link to the manual. https://gullfoss2.fcc.gov/prod/oet/...gi?attachment_id=440472&native_or_pdf=pdf

It's got broadcast AM and FM too! Nice little desk radio for those who work close to an airport. If they're not too pricey I might consider it...

The manual mentions http://www.sportys.com - you'll probably be able to purchase it there in the near future if you're so inclined.
