I had always wished Uniden had come out with a 996(X)T brick, no display or keypad. Just a blank face that came with the remote head. That way the price point would have been close to each other. Adding on the remote head just duplicates what's already on the radio.

Any of the software that has remote control can be added to this unit and you have a better remote head than the RH-96.

Works just fine for me

Same here, but I know the scanner well. Anything will be dangerous if you don't know it. Perfect example: I was driving a new vehicle yesterday. I had no idea how to set the clock so I knew what time it was. That, for me, was dangerous. Operating my scanner? Piece of cake by comparison.

So, I would agree that IF you don't know your scanner (any model), don't operate it as it could be dangerous. Same for your car stereo.

But, to make a blanket statement that because it's dangerous for one person means it is dangerous for all is a bit naive.

My thoughts exactly, and I don't try to operate my scanner in any way while I am dodging lane vaulters in the Freeway Olympics here :)

Anyway.... to get back on topic - After three months and no word on a fix, I am totally ready for a hardware fix that Uniden owes me for two scanners that have the clock problem.
