I wonder if they will still tone out higher priority calls on RMA-2A?
I’m going to assume not, their push going to encryption was for security purposes. I don’t know why they would continue to tone out on RMA 2A unless they encrypt that also. Who knows though.

I assume not as well. I'll set one of my units up to monitor it over a few days to see. It can't hurt.

Is it true that okc pd is going full encryption?

They mostly already are except their dispatch channels. OKC FD is exepected to be fully encrypted very soon. Unk if alert or ops will remain open. I would contact the PIO of OKC FD to inquire about this further and voice the needs for certain channels to remain open.

You can thank the geniuses that frequently post non-major incidents/traffic stops in nearly real-time on social media in the OKC area.

Also seems like DOJ has been cracking down on the broadcasting of PII over the air in a lot of areas recently, as this continues to be cited when major cities have encrypted their dispatch talkgroups...even cities with PIC/records talkgroups...

Well, looks like the encryption bug might be striking OKC here soon on the MPS. Nothing confirmed, this is just based off of my observations. No timeframe if this is true.

Been noticing new talkgroups popping up in the 5XXX range since I moved back to the area a few weeks ago and started running Unitrunker. All of these new talkgroups are strapped full-time with encryption.

Realized today that there is a numbering trend with them, and that they pop up at the same time as the current dispatch talkgroups for multiple law enforcement agencies on the MPS.

Kinda not surprising seeing as now that Piedmont and Union City police have both recently joined the MPS and are both encrypted.

Have not noticed a trend with any fire departments...yet.

I'm going to assume the patch is still up between the current talkgroups and new talkgroups while they work on programming new radio personalities.

These are what I have observed appearing at the same time:

Old Talkgroup = New Talkgroup

273 - Hefner Dispatch = 5273 Hefner Dispatch ENC
274 - Springlake Dispatch = 5274 Springlake Dispatch ENC
275 - Santa Fe Dispatch = 5275 Santa Fe Dispatch ENC
276 - Southwest Dispatch = 5276 Southwest Dispatch ENC
277 - Bricktown Dispatch = 5277 Bricktown Dispatch ENC
278 - Dispatch 6 = 5278 Dispatch 6 ENC
279 - Airport Dispatch = 5279 - Airport Dispatch ENC
337 - Bethany PD Dispatch = Bethany PD Dispatch ENC
338 - Warr Acres PD Dispatch = Warr Acres PD Dispatch ENC
341 - Yukon PD Dispatch = Yukon PD Dispatch ENC
342 - Mustang PD Dispatch - 5342 Mustang PD Dispatch ENC
369 - OCSO Dispatch = 5369 OCSO Dispatch ENC
372 - OCSO Law East Dispatch = 5372 - OCSO Law East Dispatch ENC

This has been online for a while now. From my understanding these 4 digit TGs are used by surrounding agencies that are already encrypted. This allows them to keep the main TG clear but if there is a M/A response that other agency can still encrypt their traffic while everyone else is clear.

Union City’s radios are programmed with an encrypted Mustang FD channel but MFD isn’t encrypted tho UC is fully encrypted. So if UC runs M/A with Mustang and you were listening to the main MFD TG and UC keys up it’ll be encrypted while you’ll only hear MFD traffic.

They can also make any exisiting TG encrypted on the fly so there should be no need to reprogram anything. This mostly should only affect new agencies coming on board or other agencies switching to encryption.

Hope that makes sense.

Yes you Are correct they can encrypted on the fly sometime I see them do it on high speed chases in Okc they also probably have OTAP so I don’t see them making another talk group just to encrypted

It appears that both Bethany and Warr Acres fire are both now fully encrypted. Police are still in the clear currently.

They are showing clear for me. Possibly was patched together for a fire and was encrypted which has been done before.

Where are you hearing them in the clear? Both Bethany and Warr Acres fire are still all P4 (encrypted) hits in Unitrunker on their primary fire channels as of 21:08 today. Have not heard a single transmission from them either.

A quick check with a coworker and they show to be carrying E and un E traffic. I’m away from my computer for a bit tho right now. Are you hearing only one side or no sides at all?

Either way I dont understand encryption esp on the fire side. It’s either they have stuff to hide or the agencies can’t trust their own employees to keep sensitive info off the radio. Or the radio shop wants to play dictator. It’s funny that it’s usually the dispatchers that mess up and put out sensitive info in the first place. They are specifically trained not to. God forbid they hand type key codes in the call notes. Dummies.
