Also All, I have been told by several users of the system that it will still be known as MECA and not UCON.

Radio Check

Early this morning, I heard Marion County Sheriff 721 (could have been a building deputy, civil division, or jail division, and yes, there is still a Marion County Sheriff's Department contrary to popular belief) call State Police Indianapolis on J-MA 1, stating they just got their "new digital radios" and wanted to see if ISP "could be contacted on any of the channels". I know that up until recently, most Sheriff's Department personnel were still beating around old STX 821s, while IMPD had most of their new XTS-series radios deployed, so it sounds like the XTS radios are getting to about everybody now in preparation for the system upgrade.

The Sheriff Department Staff & Deputies that remain got a large amount of there new radios on Friday 12/28/07. I confirmed this with several friends who work at MCSD Jail.

No updates on Meca but the dead line for rebanding is June 26th 2008 the FCC released a note about it today and if any one wants a waiver for more time it looks like it might be a little Difficult for them. If any one wants to look at it here is the link. So it looks like we may see a rush of rebanding in the next couple of months.

Thats only due to the months it sat with APCO going back and forth for approval and the time spent in cordination never the less great to see them move on it.

Just wondering if Meca has ever said if they wanted the new system 1 to have more than the current 24 freq?

the current RR DB list 27 they have more than that for SYS 1 but not listed in DB but they did not use them much and some where MDT Data. The ones I listed have MDT Data on there now I quess I should have left those out sorry. And No I have not heard about how many are being used for voice yet. Please note that the 860.4375 was on the old lic and is on the new as well there had been data on there in the past but not now I left it listed just in case they use it.
They seem to be doing testing today I have heard a lot of weird stuff plus 856.7625 has had the transmit on all day full scale no audio.

OK here is the deal I jumped the gun and admit it I looked into the lic and APCO here is the deal the new lic modes are for REBANDING ONLY and some tech changes of the OLD ANALOG system NOTE the EMISSION is still 20K0F3E witch is Frequency Modulated FM Voice NOT DIGITAL

For Digital the Emision would be 20K0F1E Frequency Modulated Digitized Voice.

There is still a new pending App with APCO witch when approved will go to the FCC and have the new Emision listed on it. So it looks like a wait and see game.

Perhaps this is so they can transition between the old (analog) and new (digital) systems.
And would it not be easier to wait until they transmit a Control Channel(s) and then put Trunker or something like it on to capture the frequncies in use.
