At almost 8% of the desktop OS market share you would think there would more support from developers :|

Also, I have to agree with another thread posted on here SDRPlay should pony up and write or have software written for SDRPlay. i am currently using CubicSDR but I can see where anyone not really into computers would be turned off by lack of available software on OSX.

I think native osx apps are lacking across all the sdr hardware designers not just the RSP. I would love to use all my SDR'S on the mac but I don't like CuteSDR,GQRX. Cubic is in it's infant stages but I honestly feel that when the code matures a bit it will be very very popular. For 150 what do you expect?

iirc Gqrx is available on the OSX platform, if you're running El Capitan it might have some issues getting installed. It's on MacPorts the last time I checked, I used it recently myself on a MacBook Air (2nd gen) and it seemed to work ok - now, having said that, as for whether or not it works with SDRplay that's where I can't say for sure.

Duh, was going to suggest asking at SDRplay's own forum but I just loaded it and voila, you did. ;)

Not really sure I'd agree with that 8% number however - even today if I went running around my apartment building with 150+ units in it I bet I'd find 2 Mac owners/users. I've done support for a lot of residents and only encountered 1 single Mac owner in the decade I've been here.

Even so, of the <how many ever> Mac owners that are actually out there, I'd hazard to guess there's a very very tiny percentage of those that are involved with SDR hardware of any kind so, the chances of someone just developing software clear outta the blue for the OSX platform - considering they may not think they could make any money from doing so - is pretty slim indeed.

I would also hazard to guess that using VirtualBox or Parallels or VMware Fusion for Windows support might get you more capabilities, sad but true.

I work at a university and 55% of the students use Mac and maybe 20% of the staff. Not sure about faculty however. For ham radio operators since PC software abounds, the group mostly self-selects into Windows.

I'm hopeful to get some of what I want on mac but I have access to a Intel I5 W8 laptop that seems to do okay.

I just reinstalled Windows 10 on my MacBook Air using boot camp. I now remember why Originally deleted it. Anyway, I guess till OSX SDR software catches on I'll sacrifice 50GB on my SSD to Windows 10.
