Interesting evening...

I just got home here to Glendale, 1 mile from the Stadium, from the Girlfriends house in N. Phoenix I've been at for the last 3 weeks.

As soon as I turn on the Handheld SDS100, I pick these three up, which I NEVER hear, here...

And just heard A4 Superstition as well...

And Apache Junction Dispatch...

Interesting why I hear them late at night, but not during the day either at my house here in Glendale, or her house in N. Phoenix.

It's not the best scanner for weak signal monitoring. It's very easily affected from interference that reduce its performance. The project leader for the scanner recommended that if you do not suffer from simulcast issues then you should probably be better off using another scanner. Those RSSI signal strength values are on the brink of being received and I am surprised that you actually receive those with the squelch set at 5.

Try using the squelch set at 2 and try different filter settings as well as IFX to the frequencies to see if you then can receive those sites during day time. It's probably some radio systems that are active during normal working hours that interfere.

I have a BCD436HP as well, and both the SDS100 & SDS200's that I have are a night and day difference. I also had a Whistler TRX-1 for a bit, and both the SDS series were top notch against the TRX-1.

Only reason I had the Squelch at 5, was due to listening to an Analog channel in Yavapai County. Normally I run both my scanners on 15 with no issues. I have picked up both these channels prior, again in the evening time, on 15. I get quite a few channels come in between -105 & -90 all day, every day.

Now this I will need you to elaborate a bit on. :) I have filters and everything else in Sentinel set up with the default settings.
