Greetings everyone:

Can someone explain is there any further requirments once the P25-8600 APCO25 Decoder board is installed to have it fully functional? I've got coming the scanner and the board to decode.

Secondly, what does a scrambled signal sound like? is it similar intermod distortion?

Thanks

Jason

True,

the APCO25 is just another encyption project, I think. Donte quote me on that. Interesting file, thank you. it'd be interesting to tap into the local police where I am as they have gone to this particular type of system, from what I'm told.

P25/APCO25 is not encryption

P25 is a digital format.(surely somebody will correct me on this).
I believe there are a few types of encryption that can be used.

I'm not familiar with your particular scanner, with the board it should be able to decode unencrypted P25.

APCO-25 is not any form of encryption it's a form of modulation. Encryption can be used over any type of modulation, but you can't listen to it.
APCO-25 should sound like this without the APCO board installed, http://kb9ukd.com/digital/astro-imbe.wav although that from a trunked system which the AOR can't track it can receive the frequencies conventionally
