Folks,

I am new to the Uniden BCD436HP and having an issue with the Burlington County NJ P25 Phase II System. I’ve been looking through forums for days and am unable to pick up any transmissions from the system. Using Broadcastify on my phone I can hear things but not on the BCD436. I’ve used sentinel many times programming and ensuring the proper service types are selected. I even tried creating a band list but to no avail I’m still not picking up any transmissions. I bought a new Comet antenna thinking that was the issue and nothing. I can pick up all other departments and counties throughout NJ and my area of Mercer County. I am truly stumped… Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated! -John

Suggest you ask to have your post redirected to the regional NJ forum. Those folks can probably send you a file that works for your scanner. And once you have that working you can compare it to your current, non-working file and learn what you may have missed when programming.

Hi John, what is your part of Mercer County? How does your 436 work on the phase 1 Mercer County simulcast system?

Depending on your location you might have issues with simulcast distortion. Some people do very well with that system and others not so much unless you have a simulcast capable scanner or pager... I'm sure you know the police are 100% encrypted.

You only need to use the north simulcast site. You can avoid the South simulcast site.

There is a lengthy thread on the New Jersey State forum on the Burlington County P2 system.

Thank you both! I am currently looking in the NJ Forum now and have found a file. Fingers crossed it works out for me.

Most Phase II systems are simulcast and on most scanners simulcast performance is not well handled. Currently only the SDS series scanners are designed to scan simulcast systems. Rather than better antennas, try 'worse' ones or use the attenuator to reduce interference from multiple sites.
