• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

you can hear as well with the GP300 as you can with the scanner. The system is not able to be trunktracked with any single scanner or radio except a Passport radio that has a serial number registered on the system. There are several channels that you will have to monitor to hear the ems units however you will also hear many other users.

You are probably listening to their home channel. In LTR each radio and has a home channel or frequency.
462.950 Home Channel or LCN 10
462.9000 Home Channel or LCN 20
If 10 is the home channel for the ambulance company then the radio will attempt to use the 10 channel first if it is busy it will use another channel. When the repeaters are not busy that is the most likely time the home channel will be used and you will be able to listen conventional. When the LTR system is very busy you will miss a lot of communications because the radios will use whatever repeater is avalaible.

The Passport LTR system is a networked system. When a unit drives from one area to another they affiliate (or electronically sign on) to the site in that area. If there is no unit signed on within a specific site, the talkgroup will not be broadcast in that area.

If you are not hearing other users traffic, then it is not likely that you are monitoring the trunked system. It is possible that there is one frequency for local ops and they use the trunked system for units that travel out of the area.

As I am not sure where in CT you are, I cannot suggest any specific freqs but if you go to the RR database, I have submitted the Marcus system info that I have accumulated. The Durham site is where I have heard thier talkgroups before.
