Hi,

Is there a web site that lists the PL/DPL Codes that radio stations use (like the FCC Licence search serches for frequencies)? Or does anyone know how to determine what PL/DPL someone is using with a scanner?

PL and DPL codes are not assigned by the FCC. They are set up by the person or company that sets up and maintains the radio system. They can pick pretty much whatever code they want to use. I imagine some web sites might have the codes listed, if they are known by the person who submitted the information. I can't tell you of any specific sites other that this one.

Yes, there are scanners that can determine the PL or DPL code in use on a frequency. The Radio Shack PRO-92 will instantly decode any PL or DPL code that is in use on a particular frequency, as will the PRO-96. Also the new Uniden BC246T will do this as well. There are other models that will decode PL tones, but many of them just slowly step thru the tones, one at a time, until the matching tone is found, and then it stops. I prefer radios with the instant decode feature myself.

PRO-92, PRO-2067, PRO-96, upcomming PRO-97, PRO-2051. All do CTCSS/CDCSS, and the 92, 2067,96 all have apha tagging as an extra advantage. The 96 also is a digital capable, BIG plus. All the newer Unidens have the CTCSS/CDCSS feature, also alpha tagging. The BC296D, BC796D are the digital line up.
