Placer county going digital?

Does anyone know if Placer County is going digital and if so how long do I have? I am looking to buy my first scanner. Thanks for any help....

it will probably be a while and if they use the system in its current configuration it flat out wont work very well a digital control channel in numerous canyons and hills rotsa ruck

i recommend a uniden 996xt for a mobile and a 396xt for a handheld

It seems that they sometimes just shut it down completely. I haven't heard it in a couple days.

This is a long term project for Placer County. Do not expect anything soon, other than testing. They have not ordered any mobiles for the new system, except for a few for the radio techs and for testing. They have planned many new site locations, plus the numerous ones they all ready operate from. A lot of the local fire districts are really concerned, in that they have to go out and buy new P25 trunked radios. Several of them are considering just going to CDF for dispatching, which may be cheaper in the short term. Eventually they will have to buy new radios when everything goes narrow band.

I have seen xlt5000 in a lot of pcso cars. 5 months ago. When they where here in sac for the ca paces officers at the capital. And some xts5000 mod 2

I do not know yet. Does anyone know if placer county will buy Motorola APX subscriber units?

Saw PCSO's new "Falcon 30" helo @ the air show over the weekend and spoke with the pilots. They actually do have a radio installed for the system, however they don't use it yet.

I've seen several HTs that are P25 VHF Trunking Capable on Auburn PD officers.
