It is good that you are getting one site with three channels or frequencies (you call them LCNs).

If you look at post #34 you will see each site has five channels, only three at this time can carry voice. One is a control channel (the one with a lower case "c" by its frequency) on each Site so it is busy doing that. The other channel that at present is not being used for voice may be a data channel and has a “?” by the LCN. Perhaps in the future this may change.

So, getting three different channels or frequecies per site is normal.

I bet you live in northern Butler county. The people who live in the north get Site 1, the people who live in the south get Site 3 and people like me who live in the middle of the city get all three sites.

Hearing more than one Site may not be of any benefit for hearing more traffic. We are all trying to determine if the same thing is being broadcast on all three Sites. It is a lot of fun trying to figure out how to do this.

What is your RSSI for Site 1?

I'm basically at the junction of 67 north and 60 west off ramp. The RSSI is fluctuating between 110 -115. The most I've recieved was2 or 3 words when actually scanning not very often. I'm urnning a Diamond 3000 discone up about 20ft.

Your SDS200 came with a portable antenna, put it on and move the radio around. I bet you will get an increase in RSSI I hope. Your RSSI is really low.

I pick everything else up just fine here though. I'm positive I did everything they way you have in your last file you posted but, I must have missed something. All of my p25 stuff runs around 60 RSSI.

I live in Qulin, about 13 miles as the crow flies SE of the site (site 3). I use this antenna indoors and get around a 400 RSSI. Granted it is flat between here and there.

Since you live in a mobile home you are correct what I recommended will not work.

However, you can put a portable anteena on your radio and use an AC extension cord to step outside one door to see how much difference it makes. Unless you have a window that the radio will fit through. This is a quick check on how good your coaxial cable is for 850 MHz. This is a much more serious problem than what MOSWIN High Band VHF frequencies present for your coaxial cable.

If you can find someone with a handheld or mobile scanner in their car to check out reception around your mobile home.

I started the big expriment today. Is the same information being transmitted from all three Sites or towers?

I used three different radios, one to my left (Site 1 only), right (Site 3 only) & Center (Site 2 only). They all had 5 soild bars of signal strength.

I monitored for a litte over 2 hours & received about 25 PD calls, 5 EMS calls & 0 FD calls.

I heard the SAME thing on all three radios!

I suppose this would give robust redundecy do to loss of one or more towers. Same RF from dfferent directions, for fireman & police deep inside building. Lastly, I have been told that professional digital radios will automatically assoicate with the strongest tower for the best signal strength. Our scanner just scans the sites we chose.

This is the Control Channel that transmits all the time but has no audo itself. Set your squelch to 2 so the Control Channel can Trunk Track the Site.
This shows that you are picking up the site but your RSSI is so low the digital voice may not be being decoded properly. So you will hear distorted and/or broken audio. I think you are going to have to find a way to improve how well you receive this tower. From your location you should be gettng it without much trouble.
If you can find a portable anteena & hold the radio next to a window especially if it faces the tower you might be surprised. Just watch the upper right corner of your SDS200 for the signal strength bars and try to get as many as possible. You will not need to wait for soneone to talk.

If it's not raining again tomorrow, I'm going to take my scanner outside and try it. This valley I'm in is really bad evidently for the 800hz frequencies. The tower is only about 6 or 7 miles from me according to the map. Everything else comes in great no problems at all. My scanner sits so low where it's at I can't even see the signal bars. In fact, I forgot it even had them lol! I've got to get it up higher so I can see what's going on. Thanks!
