I think, that's across from Ross fuel center and close to the old Minit Mart. Map I'm looking at, shows 5.6 miles from me. The way the crow flys it should be a little less than that.

On a map I was looking on, it shows another towe a little further north. It lists it as #1 shows it close to the Camelot camp area across the highway where all the RVs park at. I figured that might be the one I'm getting hits off of. water tower #1 loaction in poplar bluff mo - Google Search Clicking on nearby gas stations makes it look, like it's not far from the old Minit Mart.

I don't know If a dedicated 800-900mhz. antenna would help or not. I'm in a really bad location for 800mhz signals.
In a latter post you mention you will need a coupler if you get this 800 MHz antenna.

You might make for sure such a coupler exists before buyng an 800 MHz antenna to go with the different antenna you have now. If such a coupler exists I do not know about it.

In phased arrays the antennas MUST be exactly alike with very specific spacing plus a carefuly prepared wiring harness to keep the RF wave fronts in phase.

However, couplers exist for hooking up more than one radio to one antenna.

Some radios have more than one antenna input on the back, but these inputs go to separate receivers inside the radio.

Your might just need new coaxial cable; it may be damaged, have water in it, or the foam insulator may be degraded. You have the classic systoms of good low/high band VHF signals but very poor 800 MHz signals. Using a portable antenna on your radio will tell you if your cable is the problem or someone with a scanner could visit your location & see how they pick up Site 1.

I decided to just mount the new Yagi antenna to the same pole below the Discone. I'll then run my Discone to my Whistler WS1065, and the Yagi 800mhz to the sds200. I think that would probably be my best bet. Mounting the Yagi like that, will only require 20-25ft of coax. I'm getting new rg6 Quad for that until I find out if, the Yagi is even going to receive the new system properly or not. If it does, I'll replace the rg6 Quad with LMR 400 when the weather gets better.

This should work great & since it appears you only need to monitor one Site to get everything you will not miss anything. If
Site 1 goes down then the Yagi will allow you to pick up the other Sites, AWIN in AR, Dexter, Battle Com etc.

Some things to keep in mind:

1. Make for sure the connectors on the cable you buy matches the one on the Yagi beam and will you need an adpater to get it to connect to your scanner. I have antennas that needed a PL-259, N-Connector & an F Connector (like cable TV uses). All of them require an adapter to fit to my scanners.

2. If you order the Yagi from Amazon & they mention that it works with cell phones, be aware you will need a reverse polarity adapter as cell phones have the reverse polarity of scanners. They will often be cheaper since more cell phone people are buying them than scanner/hams are. They work fine if you know this first.

3. Do not mount the Yagi like a TV antenna (horizontal pollarity) but with vertical polarity. Some people will use thier TV mast & copy the TV antenna orientation.

Yes, I have made ALL of these mistakes in the past!

I've got the connectors I need I had some left over from when I mounted the Diamond 3000 discone. For now, I'll have to mount it horizontal since it won't be at the top of the pole. I stuck in on there horizontal it's not very high though. I'll have to wait til my grandson gets back from New York to help me get it mounted higher.. He went to see his mom for Christmas. For no higher than it is It's not doing too bad. At least I'm hearing both sides of the transmissions now. I'ts getting a steady 4 signal bars so that's not too bad for about 11ft high.

I saw this they did a fine job!

Changes will of course be made as the system matures & we discover more details.
For example, my scanner shows we have an NX4 system which is 4800, not an NX9 9600 system. I checked the FCC site and it agrees.

Site 2's location is still not certain.

I am in my fifth day of searching for the unknown LCN for 858 MHz on site 1. I no longer think it is an MDT link as i never hear a reply which would not be a weak signal like all signals so far have been.
