I'm in the South West corner of NFLD and I have my 996t programed for everything listed in the NFLD data base on this site... Can't hear a thing in this part of the island. Can anyone help me out with some frequencies... ie RCMP or what have you.

Thanks,
Kevin

Welcome aboard the RadioReference (RR) ship, Kevin!

As far as I know there should be a digital signal in Red Rocks / PAB.
Try doing a range search on 150-170mhz. Check out the manual on how to do this @ Easier to Read BCD996T/UBCD996T Digital Scanner Manual

If you do find a frequency, please post it along with your exact location so the database can be updated.

And If there's no digital signal in your neck of the woods, then maybe it's just the area you're in.
Some places still don't have P25 up and running. EG: St. John's/North East Avalon Region + Bay Roberts/Conception Bay.
The radio technicians are still working on upgrading from the old system.

Hope that helps ya out... :)

Welcome aboard.
If you check the database and lookup Newfoundland you'll find info your looking for.
under the provincal P25 system.

While there in June had a hit on 159.2400. Sounded like might have been a fire department.

I tried the advice to scan betwee 150 and 170 MHz, found two digital signals. 159.12 and 160.41 and programed them in as two sites as a p25 mot. so far havent heard anything but will keep monitoring. I'll add the 159.24.

Thanks for the input guys.

the old frequency used to be 155.9700 not sure if you change it to digital only and let it search for the nac code. you can do this under the menu.

UnfortunatelyI am no longer in Newfoundland. I returned home Sunday. I did monitor 159.12 and 160.41 for sometime but I probably didn't have the radio setup to find nac data... But there was digital data on them. I will try again in the summer.

Thanks very much for the help.

I live in this area as well, I have a Digital bcd396t scanner. I wanted to program this freq in, but what system do I use, Convention / MOT / EDCS Or LT ? also what does NAC:2C mean, as I don't see a field to enter this value into.

I can bring in this channel, and hear them, but only when i use the Conventional System only, MOT/P25 doesn't work for me, when they talk over the radio, a "p25" shows on the display, so i guess its working, at lease it seems to be.

In my 996t, I've control channels programmed as separate sites

When I pressed the "new site" a list popped up with the various forms of
Motorola trunk systems. I scrolled down to P25 and pressed "E".
Might be the same in the 396T.

From what you guys have posted and what the database shows, you've either got a multi frequency P25 trunking site and you haven't found all the frequencies for the site or you've got a single frequency P25 trunking site.

I don't think the 396T supports single site trunking like the 396XT so I'm not sure how you could program this in.

Is there continuous data on the frequency until a voice call comes in? That would be the giveaway for a single frequency site.

If there's just voice then there's a control channel you need to find.

If it is single site, then I'm not sure how the 396T can handle it.
