Yes Cedar Country is definitely fire department it is a volunteer fire department. My uncle use to be on their department as their training officer. Highly possible that they may have a 800 radio to talk to Lexington or others for mutual aid.

Thanks. The Lexington Fire talkgroup just came active and there was a CW ID so I presume that since CW IDs are, for lack of a better word, "supressed" on trunked systems, the Lexington talkgroup is a link to a conventional repeater.

EDIT: Well, DUH, It says so right in the database! Being in Texas must have damaged my brain.

Here in MWC, I seem to get better reception of the "new" norman system than I did with the "old" one, although the old DPS Norman site 25 is still pretty marginal.

Is there a place around there called Cedar Country? If there is, 48304 identified as Cedar Country 3XX. Don't know if it is fire or police, but my bet would be fire.

One of the many FDs on the "Lexington" channel. A VFD in the eastern part of Cleveland Co. This is a patch to the 152.6600 repeater. Don't exactly have a good handle on who does what, but believe Lexington may dispatch them.

Someday, I'll put together a list of the Cleveland Co FDs and who dispatches what.

Yep. I assume this is what used to be called "EMSSTAT 2". Showed up in the DB long before the cut-over.

Maybe I'm missing something here. Shouldn't Site 25 be in the DB then w/ the .9875 freqs ? Is it acting like a simulcast or just serving as another Norman tower in a different area of the city?

That’s one of the (many) things that really discombobulated me when I returned from Dallas. I naturally assumed that the DPS Norman site would be incorporated into the new DPS / City of Norman site, but as I was tooling through Norman on my way home, my scanner was catching a control channel on both sites. When I got home, I locked on to the DPS Norman control channel, which was identifying as site 25. When I went to the database to find out what site 25 was, I didn’t find anything, which led to the first of my many post Dallas posts that are more reminiscent of the ravings of an escapee from an insane asylum than a reasoned observer of radio systems.

It is not a simulcast of the Norman system and I plan to leave it active in my radio until they decommission it as it is carrying the AR and some AM stuff as well as Noble traffic that I have monitored at least. They sure could use those five frequencies on site 8 imho.

A couple of other TGIDs to watch are:

53552 Noble tried to contact Norman RH with a patient report without success.
13744 I didn’t get a good lock on it but it acted encrypted.

Near as I can tell, Site 25 is operating exactly as it was before the cut-over. What the plan is, I don't know (clearly!), but I bet there is more to come.

I wish that I could be more helpful, but as of this morning, due to the change in seasons or the magnetic pull of the moon, I'm getting garbage ids. For instance, Moore PD 1 on 52448 and then a reply on 51360. I guess that I'm back to a frustrating search for a better antenna / coax combination . For the last three days it has worked so well.

I think that you very likely have 29072 correct. I'll bet I heard the same stuff that you did - about mowing between holes and sandtraps and such. You could probably send that one to the db powers that be and see what happens.

This is interesting. My 996 and 396 have been regularly having problems related some of these “talkgroups”.

Of those that you have listed, I have:

locked out because for some reason the scanners often stop on those and sit with the squelch open. No voice is heard, just a squelch crash and static. I don’t know if they eventually clear and go back to searching since I reach up and hit the scan key as quick as I can, but I’ve never come home to find them locked up.

I have been passing it off to something here that is causing interference. Often, the open carrier is preceded by the detection of an emergency button activation, especially on 54800. I have been turning off and disconnecting things, the latest being my wireless router hoping that it might be the cause of the problem. I don’t remember having the problem before I set up the router, and I haven’t had one since I decommissioned it around noon.

Anyway, the reason that some may not be evenly divisible by 32 is that some of them are not “actual” talkgroups – if that makes any sense – for lack of a better way to describe them.

Thanks for the reminder on search and store. I'll try that.

I think the reason it's not evenly divisible by 32 is that the TGs start w/ +16. If you subtract 16 first, then it is evenly divisible by 32.

Site 25 was and still is working.

The old Norman (two-site) system is Site 40. And those two new freqs that were assigned to Norman back in spring of last year were finally added, so 12 channels in all.

I haven't listened to 25 much, but probably should. The Site 40 seems to be advertising Site 25 as a neighbor, if I am correctly interpreting what Unitrunker is telling me.

I think Site 25 is colocated with the west half of what is now Site 40 at the Sarkeys Energy Center on OU's campus (tall, red, leaky building at Jenkins and Boyd). There is a note in the DB that Site 40 is a temporary label, so I gather there are further integration plans.

Now I see the problem - Site 25 was removed from the DB. It's still up and running as of this post, so the removal was a bit premature.

Talkgroups on the state system are often spaced by 32, however they are designed and assigned to go in 16's. The state folks just jump double when assigning them.

As far as the 7XXXXX ID's. Woody have you done the firmware upgrade off the Uniden website. I used to get those all the time and then I did the update and do not get all of the birdie 700k id's. You can still get them when they are true private calls, it just filters them better. Plus the private calls will show up as 7XXXXX-7XXXXX. These are not too common around here, but are more so in Tulsa. They can be interesting in Tulsa.

This new Norman stuff is pretty fun. I wish I could hear the Norman site from my house. Opening up the database every day is like going to open new Christmas gifts from Scannerclaus.

When will Edmond move? I assumed they'd wait for Norman to merge, but that's done as far as I can tell.

Do you see that on UniTrunker? (assuming you are tapped) Or just on your radios? It doesn't take much to lose a bit here or there, but UniTrunker should reflect that in the "quality" display.
