I just checked a few random archived audio files from the past few days and its seems like starting on about friday or saturday, traffic on East suddenly dropped off, with only maybe 2 or 3 random transmissions per half-hour segment. This was by no means an exhaustive review, just a few random samples to try to see where the decline in radio traffic started to occur. After sitting here at 130am and watching the control channel for about 15min, I definitely see the dispatch consoles transmitting quite a bit on East Tac 1 (I did also see a couple random transmissions on the main East net).

I also feed PPB Central and while I haven't reviewed any archives, I did see unencrypted traffic on the main Central net during that same 15min monitoring. Does anyone with some insight know what's going on?

It looks like E Disp has returned to regular use. I didn't notice any change on any of the other PPB Dispatch channels.
Unrelated, but on Fire Ops 1 there's been a radio in emergency mode for hours (so far). I haven't had Portland's P25 logging for a long while, but figured with the warmer weather there might be some activity.

Yeah I feel like East net has just started to pick back up since my last post, impeccable timing lol. I welcome anyone to continue to use this thread as feedback on, or conversation about the PPB East talkgroup, as I don't usually get to monitor it as much as I used to.

Also about the MultCo Fire TG 283, that's interesting, I noticed that Ops 1 was tied up, but when I tune to it I don't hear anything...how do you know it's a radio in emergency mode?

I noticed yesterday that East dropped, mainly after say 4-5pm, it was normal up until that time. I talked with my daughter who works up there and she said they were having problems with some equipment but she didn't tell me that they are going to encrypt anything, but they are not really known for communication. East Dp is back on this morning. I finally buckled and bought a 436hp. As far as as PF&R Ops 1 I don't usually monitor that channel so can't help you there. I'll try and find out more on East talk group.

I use an XTS5000 (nas!) as my primary scanner for the Tri-county area and the Emg Rx tripped when I turned to Portland. By chance I had Unitrunker running BOEC and it shows E4 under the service.

I could easily see them switching over to E Tac1 not specifically for encryption, but perhaps rather because it was simply an easy open nearby TG to move the net over to if they were having technical issues with the main E net. ...that said, curious why they didn't switch over to SE net as a backup like they used to. Come to think of it, ever since they switched from the 800 analog over to the 700 P25 system, have they even used the SE net at all? I can't remember now lol. Either way, glad to be hearing from you guys that regular traffic has returned to the main net.
