From the PPSTN training portal - not sure it helps anything here other than an interesting read

another bit of interesting reading from the Mar 2014 PPSTN newsletter - "The PPSTN is one of the largest of its kind in North America in terms of area covered and number of towers. The 8000 member client list is diverse and includes agencies such as the Canadian Armed Forces, the RCMP, Highway Transport Compliance, conservation officers, police departments, nearly 300 fire departments, EMS and many others. Spent some time up in Big River earlier this month.

Lots of activity on TG 6048 Big River Fire Base

I assume other fire protection bases will have their own base TG as well.

00C UPDATE

Came back through Prince Albert and discovered there is widespread use of 00C towers showing up in peers.

Did the RCMP run out of 221 prefix radios? I have started to see 321-XXXX radios across several talkgroups.

Moby, I know you LOVE the P25 packet data so I've attached mine

Hi to Ryan, that's some nice work and thanks for sharing your data!

As for the RIDs prefix 321####, my data base shows:

RID 3210068 on TG 18, April 5, 2024 at 3:37 pm, hits 1.
RID 3210158 on TG 18, May 2, 2024 at 9:31 am, hits 2.
RID 3210110 on TG 74, July 19, 2024 at 4:40 pm, hits 2, (seen in Ryan's 321 RIDs post).
RID 3210201 on TG 46, July 29, 2024 at 7:33 pm, hits 1.

We need to see just the 321 prefix RIDs on their own talk-group, such as 126 or 128,
along with the Key ID in use. Your RID 3210195 on TG 178 Key ID 004D=75, looks to me
like the 321 prefix RIDs just may be used by some "specialized units".

The RIDs 2216751 to 2216850 are or soon will be used for the 00C tower site radios.

My records show another 1600 prefix 221 RIDs were still available in March of 2023.
With all the staffing problems and the officer shortages there is no way that the RCMP
ran out of 221 prefix RIDs. We must keep looking for these 321 prefix RIDs.

July 29. 2024, TAC 2 operation in the Yorkton region, all RIDs start with 221####.

2944 Yorkton Rural
2947 Yorkton unit B465
2953 Yorkton Rural
2971 Yorkton City
3157 Yorkton GIS unit 4
3160 Yorkton GIS unit 7
3165 Yorkton GIS unit 10
1142 Regina PDS unit K100
1212 Regina ERT unit
1217 Regina ERT Staff-SGT unit
1220 Regina ERT unit
1224 Regina ERT unit
2624 Regina Ext-Age loaner (CRT?)
2713 CIRT Sierra 3
2714 CIRT
2726 CIRT
2734 CIRT
4835 CIRT portable
5295 TG-74 unit
6210 Mob-Com
6211 Mob-Com
9001 DOCC
3210201 New Unknown unit*

We should see more Dynamic Regroups in use.
There will be a total of 32 with no more than 16 that can be in use at the same time.

Cheers.

Hi, Wil
What you were seeing was RID 2215013=C305 Traffic Services data channel grants to the FNE.
You will see those messages when an RID is affiliated onto the same radio site that you are decoding. You will not see those data grants if the RID is on another site. So C305 was on site 84?
I have see C305 on my local site, but not for a very long time.
Cheers!

C 305 was showing on 84 for the better part of yesterday morning. I looked up his \history on this Site, he has been in the area since july 15th. only showing log in/outs and data no voice grants.

Another bit of interesting reading from the Mar 2014 PPSTN newsletter - "The PPSTN is one of the largest of its kind in North America in terms of area covered and number of towers."
The only other system that I can think of that covers a larger area, and has a larger site count is AFRRCS. Another L3 Harris network.

I have been tracking the 321 prefixes. They seem to be used on Tac channels, Drug channels and Special Unit groups. They are involved in chases, manhunts, and emergency situations. I have seen them on other groups, but have the most hits are on the above channels. I am thinking a new unit is on.

I have been watching more 0000A-00C towers pop up as well. One I can monitor fairly regular and believe it is north northeast of Saskatoon

0000A-00C - 030-030
0000A-00C - 032-032
0000A-00C - 023-023
0000A-00C - 003-003
0000A-00C - 049-049

Hey Moby, Thanks for all the info. Busy summer. I hope to be more active in fall. I have started a new station up north and and have a lot of groups and users that are unknown, I will process them soon.

Curious if you picked up anything from the check stop in on the Prairie Thunder concert weekend? There was no check stop the following weekend at FRCC, so nothing to see there.

Have fun guys.

Hi Wil, I have 2215013 as Primrose Lake RCMP

2215013 is C305. Confirmed by voice.

Primrose Lake is not an inhabited place, so definitely no RCMP detachment there.

What is the frequency on that 00C site NE of Saskatoon?
Site 30C is showing as a peer of 19, 32, 34, 47

Site 38C is SW of Prince Albert (likely Muskoday FN)

Willing to bet you'd find a string of 00C sites from 30-37 filling in coverage gaps off the highway in smaller areas missed by the initial PPSTN construction.

Ok, Wil
Please take a second look at your data and what you have just posted above.
The RIDs 231#### are used for the RCMP Training in Regina.
The RIDs 321#### are the new ones that we are looking for and any of the Talk-groups they are using.
The Key IDs that they are using would also be helpful too.
Thank you for posting.

You;re right, my mistake. The id's should be 2311022, 2311113 and 3210001, 321009 . If Unitrunker has Key ID, I'm not sure where to find it. SDRtrunk didn't catch the 321's

Ok, Wil
Thanks for clearing that up for us.
Now for getting those Key IDs.
When you see channel grants on an unusual talk-group, one that we do not already have the Key ID for.
Stop Unitrunker, then replace the control channel frequency with one of the voice channel frequencies.
Turn on logging and then start Unitrunker running again.
The site window will not open, but this is ok.
Just let the program run and get the voice frames with the key ID.
When you stop the program the data will be saved to a folder with a name like mine has: R93CCFOE7 and that is found in the AppData / Roaming / Unitrunker folder.

Now what was going on at my location this afternoon?
About 2:20 pm RCMP units A276 and A278 raced past my location and into the center of the town. Later I had a look at Unitrunker and could see lots of coms on TG 18.
What got my attention was seen at 3:09 pm when the CICC was talking to A276 and then to B191. This was followed by more coms on TG 18.
At 3:54 pm C510 and M455 logged in on TG 10.
At 4:35 pm Yorkton GIS 1 logged in on TG 169.
At 4:49 pm SHP unit HU3332 logged in on TG 6069.
I think the "event" was over in just a few minutes, long before these other units logged in on site.
Maybe the police report, if there is one will provide the details.
Cheers.
