I'd say if it allowed you to update, and it says version 1.4, then it should be correct.

When I found the file on Shack's site to be no good, I immediately emailed their customer support group to let them know. They must have put a good one up shortly thereafter. Good to hear someone over there is still listening.

Thanks Dave! You know what they say..."If it works, don't fix it!" lol ;)

Just upgraded a week old PRO-197 (well, it's a week old to me). It was releases 1.3 and 1.7.

Did the DSP first, then the CPU. The CPU one had me a little worried as after it had halfway loaded, the window had (NOT RESPONDING) for several minutes. Then the radio rebooted itself and all was well.

Backed out DSP 1.4 this morning. While monitoring a P.25 group , one in particular kept getting interrupted... the T icon would come on solid interrupting the transmission (I named the TSYS COIRS Delaware, I forget which TGRP was the one with the problem as it was at 3:00 AM at the time). I don't know if it was caused by 1.4, so I'm going to keep an eye on how 1.3 handles that particular group. If it's the same, I'll put 1.4 back on.

Anyone seen any problems with DSP 1.4?

Well, with luck, your local Radio Shack store may still have them in stock. Don't know what price they'll have on it but it's normal list price is $29.95. It is the 20-047 programming cable for many of RS' scanners including the 106. It comes with an additional little adapter which you WON'T use for the 106.

Hope they have it. If not, the GRE programming cable for the PSR500 also works on the 106.

Radio Shack ones are part number 20-047 but for some reason they're not on the site any more.

I have downloaded files from radioreference to my win 500 software. I recieve very little on my pro-106, alot of prerecorded stuff like someone reading from a book...I am using win500 from utahradio as a reference. Very disappointed with the software. Looking for an Iowa City, Iowa File.

What are the reasons for the updates, and are they really necessary?
Just wondering?

CPU 1.8 fixes:

Adds patch support for P25, Motorola and EDACS trunking

-Changes CCDump type string to "EDn" if "narrow invert" is turned on

-Corrects LCD “mirror image” issue

DSP 1.4 fix:

-Minimizes the possibility of a previous NAC displayed on a new transmission.

It seems that r/s has changed the catalog # of the cable from 20-047 to 20-546.
The only real change seems to be they are including the ARC500 promo disc instead of the previous scancat disc. The price was the regular price of $34.99 when I bought it.

Interesting about the addition of the ARC500 demo. The 20-546 looks to be a modified iScan interface cable.

. win 500 has nothing to do with utahradio site EXCEPT they made up a nice help file for the gre made radios
