Pro-106/197 CPU 1.8 & DSP 1.4 released

I have downloaded files from radioreference to my win 500 software. I recieve very little on my pro-106, alot of prerecorded stuff like someone reading from a book...I am using win500 from utahradio as a reference. Very disappointed with the software. Looking for an Iowa City, Iowa File.

Guess I'm a bit confused by this post. Win500 has nothing to do with frequency and city/county listings from RR. Other than a nice way to enter data and control your scanner programming, data must still be gotten from the database listings and they always aren't absolutely correct or there may be many updates to the listings. Badmouthing a package of software for something it hasn't any control over makes no sense at all.

My included 106 Vscan files were way off and the preliminary files in RR were also dated. But the new P25 listings were right on for my county and their cities. You still have to research a bit and try them out. Win 500 makes that a whole lot easier.

I love the package myself. Saves a ton of time and effort and let's you look at your whole scanner at one shot. I still have to ask the question of what this has to do with the 1.8 CPU and 1.4 DSP upgrade.

Unzip this file in your win500 directory, run win500, open this file (iowacity) and upload it to your scanner and see if you get anything.

Did the updates yesterday. Marked improvement in the reception of a statewide trunked VHF system. No "motorboating" and a much better job all together.

Upgrades from Pro-106 1-2011 Purchase

Picked up a Pro-106 and it already had both latest posted upgrades. fyi

I got my pro-106 about 2 weeks ago and it didn't. I had to do the upgrade. Could be related to how long mine was on the shelf.

The manufactured date is in the battery compartment so you can tell the year and month.

It seems that r/s has changed the catalog # of the cable from 20-047 to 20-546.
The only real change seems to be they are including the ARC500 promo disc instead of the previous scancat disc. The price was the regular price of $34.99 when I bought it.

I find it interesting that I bought my 197 last month and just received my 106 last week, both were shipped from RadioShack.com and I had to update the 197 but not the 106. I'd think it was all newer stock from there and it would be current on their merchandise.
These scanners work great and those of you having computer programming issues don't let it get the best of you. I knew absolutely nothing about this and it just clicked after reading these forums and looking at the software with a clear head. You can always get a computer knowledgable friend help you along.

what if i want to go back to other version for up app and dsp ap ver

when I got my radio shack pro 106

it came with :

Up Ver: RF 1.7
DSP App ver: RF 1.3
DSP voi Ver: RF 1.0

i just did the updates to 1.8 and 1.4


now what happens if i want to go back to 1.7 and 1.3 for the UP and DSP app version? how do i do that?

I know this thread is a little old but does anyone have the files and instructions for installing them? I have a disabled neighbor who has one of these scanners and would like some help in programming for local use here in Phoenix AZ. Not totally sure it will work with the Phoenix PD system but wanted to try anyway. I've tried the links in the thread and apparently RS feels that they needed the server space. ;-)

Just to be clear, I'm looking for the any DSP and CPU updates for the RS Pro-106 scanner.

Yesterday I updated the wiki and included a link to the file I made on my dropbox that also has dsp 1.4. Plus another that someone else made with all the previous updates but it doesn't have the dsp 1.4.
Also if you did click the link in my post 98 above the link I gave also does include the 1.4.

Wiki's: the links go to the same firmware downloads, since they can be used for both 106, 197 models.
