I was playing around with my old "paperweight" Pro 106 the other day. It seems the cable no longer works with the scanner.

Has anyone else had this issue.

Thank,
TS

The latest updates to windows 10 and 11 have cause me frustration with more than one of my older cps/cable combinations

I understand completely. I remember having a perfectly good, cheap to use black and white laser printer that was rendered obsolete due to "driver no longer supported" with a windows upgrade.

As usual...."The Beatings will continue, until moral improves"

:( Sadly, moral will never improve... The economy has to outlaw (effectively) older devices because the new stuff reminds us every day the older stuff lasted forever. Think about it, LOW unemployment drives bad products to be replaced by worse products so that lower unemployment can happen happily building products that might last the warranty (they do run mtbf surveys to insure it just last past the warranty ending). Enough, putting my foil hat back on! :(

:) Now that the energy waves are under control, I can say to you get a 'beater' old computer and hook up the 'obsolete' laser printer... Shhhhhh! :)

I had this problem too. I switched to WIN500_com.exe and that solved the problem. For whatever reason, WIN500 couldn't "auto-locate" the USB cable even though it is listed in Device Manager. With WIN500_COM you need to set the COM port yourself.

My old Radio Shack 20-546 cables still work with Win500 using both Windows 10 and Windows 11.

Mine as well, and I don't recall having to anything out of the way to make them work. I've had some driver issues with other "older" hardware but my 20-546 seems to cooperate fine with win10.
