pro 164 yellow battery holder

Having trouble locating a yellow battery holder for my Pro 164 none on e bay or Amazon, is it true that rechargeable batteries can't be used in the black holder. Any suggestions on were to locate one? Thanks.

Go to the Whistlergroup web site and look under shop then scanner accessories. I bought some for my pro97 and pro106.

Aren't these the same holders that are used in the Whistler WS1040? If so, then Whistler has them in stock.

This might work.
You can use the black battery holder, batteries cannot be charged that way, however I never recommend charging batteries in the radio, should always use a external charger.

Rechargeable can be used in the black holder but they wont recharge. You would have to remove them to recharge.

Rechargeable batteries may be used in either holder, they just won't charge in the scanner in the black holder (shouldn't be charging batteries in the scanner anyway, but there are numerous other threads discussing this). Most importantly, alkalines should never be used in the yellow holder.

I got spare holders for my 106 from Scannermaster.

This works for me, but yes, I agree an external charger is best.
