I have a Pro-197 scanner and I noticed a few things about how it monitors encrypted transmissions. There is a P25 Phase 1 system that is encrypted full time and the scanner picks up all the encrypted garble that you expect to hear (thus I don't listen to the system). However, I listen to a Motorola Type II SmartZone system that sometimes uses part-time encryption and the scanner skips right over it as if nothing was ever transmitted (I noticed this because the dispatcher will tell the officer that he had his radio in encrypted mode). Is there a way that I can have my Pro-197 actually pick up these skipped encrypted transmissions in the SmartZone system? I don't care about the annoying garble I just want to be able to hear it and know that something is actually being encrypted.
