Pro 197 Power Cord

Does anyone make a cigarette lighter cord that will fit the Pro 197?

I want to be able to move from one vehicle to another without having to wire each one.

It comes with a twin wire power cord you can hardwire in but I am looking for something I can use from one vehicle to another. Prefer a coiled cigarette lighter cord that doesn't spread out and get in the way all the time.

my pops uses a couple of these, much cheaper than buying a entire cable to connect...

Try this;

8-Ft. CD Power Cord with Adaptaplug Outlet - RadioShack.com

This will accept the two-prong adaptaplug that Radio Shack sells. Should do the trick...only the cable is not coiled. Hey thats what twist ties are made for.

Radio Shack does not handle an adaptaplug that will fit the Pro-197.

You can buy a lighter plug from Radio Shack and attach it to the 12V power cable that came with the radio - will post part number later, I don't have it handy. Of course, this won't give you a coiled cord tho...

Just wish I could find the specs for the power plug. Can't seem to get anything from Radio Shack or GRE. I tried using a micrometer on the barrel but can't figure out a non-destructive way to measure the pin.

And I am not rich enough to buy a second power cord from RS or GRE just to cut the connector tip off.

The business end of Adaptaplug "T" (fits recent GRE-made base/mobile scanners) is an EIAJ RC-5320A type 5 plug. My solution was to purchase P/N 171-6014 from Mouser Electronics. That said, I understand that the once-discontinued Adaptaplug "T" is again available from Radio Shack. This sites search feature may find the Radio Shack part number.

The Mouser suggested by TES is the way to go. Make sure you use a 2 amp fuse. The GRE-600/RS-197 is a T plug which is the referenced Mouser. Pro-2096 also uses same T plug.

Sent my order to Mouser last night for 2 plugs. Ordered the 171-6014-E
(they said the 171-6014 was obsolete - go figure)

Ordered a spare because you never know what idea for an application may pop up some day.
(7 ah gel cell power pack?)
