if I remember right it tells you to turn it on , it gives you on screen instructions when doing the updates ,
I just picked up the Pro668 but it is missing the belt clip. Anyone know when I can order the belt clip? Whistler likely offers it but I do not have the part number. Suggestions?

Pro-668 and windows 8.1
I followed the instructions and after I clicked restart instead of getting the choices and clicking #7 or F7 bitblocker takes over and I have to put my code in, in order to unlock the computer. How do I get around this so I can install the driver.
When I put the SD card into the computer I can't update the firmware. I am just a little frustrated.

$249 if you can find one at a RS that is closing up, but you can find plenty to bid on Ebay auctions with most ending around $195-$215.

Thanks I will check into this. I don't think I have an RS stores in my area anymore as they all shut down.

I have the software running great on 2 Windows 7 machines; just got a Windows 8 laptop, disabled driver signing as per link and have been trying for 2 days to get it running doing everything possible mentioned on RR and elsewhere. Program says the scanner is not connected. I'm lost. HELP please. Joe.

You may have to try a different USB port, or run direct to port if you're using a hub. Sometimes they get picky about that. Also, try using the "Scan for New Hardware" function in the Control Panel, that will sometimes make it pop. If you've already tried these, well I got nothing else. I've put it on 3 different machines ranging from XP Pro to Win8.1 and didn't have an issue with any of them recognizing the scanner so my advice is a bit of a stab in the dark.
Try shutting the computer completely down then plug in the USB cable/scanner while the computer is off and then boot up. Works for me.
Thanks All. Got it working, I have to keep clicking OK in the popup that says scanner not found; after the 4th time it works!?!
Use a card reader if you are just updating scanlists or database. Takes almost no time at all compared to USB communication.
Only use USB for firmware updates.

Couple of Questions on the 668 program
Just received my 668 today and in using the supplied program gto program it with questions arise on it... when putting in a trunked system, some of the talk groups have an X on them, not loading into the program.... are these groups that use the X2 TDMA, even though what i read in the manual and on line the scanner is supposed to track the phase II APCO...
Second question on the program is about the backlight, so far the only way to get a active channel to light up is by selecting it in the playlist tab and individually selecting which channel to lite up.... is there any settings that will select all active channels?

I have a WS1080 but the controls are the same. To turn light on for good on the scanner push "menu/scroll to SETTINGS/scroll down to LiteArea and LModeEXT. LModeEXT is on, stealth, normal, Key* or ignore. LiteArea you can turn it to LCD only or all on for background lights. Pick which ones you want there. The "X" in the libraries are encrypted or channels you can't load or hear. You CAN however use the I-SCAN software to load a "Wildcard*" to hear all things that come through your trunked system. THAT will only drive you nuts since mostly encrypted things will come through with your normal traffic but some folks like to use a wildcard too, you can lockout individual noisy objects if you want or use the EncMode where you can change encrypted traffic to a Tone* Noise* or Silent*
