That is odd, mine had a firmware update. Yours must be from a more recent date, but my 668 has a 2015 date code. Did you manually check for update after connecting your radio to your PC?

I'll be getting mine tomorrow- took more than a week to get here- storms in Tn. delayed shipments so Fed-Ex says.
I'll let you all know the date code on it and if it needs updating.

Radioshack just sent 20-40 of the 668's to the clearance stores that are closing so they are going to clearance with huge discounts

Mine had to do some updates-
Date code 10A14 sn. 4205
Guess that is Oct. 2014
Brand New unit, yes.
The screen protector has a little blue tab to pull it off- don't know how you can miss that there is a screen protector on there, but maybe others didn't have the blue tab.

Enjoy your new scanner. Be sure to back up the SD card to another card, PC, etc.
Roger that- thanks.
Backed up when I first got it and then made a new folder backup for the card contents after updates were done.
Now to make a backup larger SD card with contents from second folder created.....

Yes and it showed DSP and CPU updates were there - it did do a library update - I just purchased the scanner so it could be from a newer batch - it also had a 4 GB memory card in it rather than then advertised 2 GB

You can go to RadioShack and get them to do a RSU part order for the sd card its like $30 for a new card shipped to you .

Hey Mike,
I can't email the iScan program because Gmail see's the .exe file and doesn't allow sending .exe files. I can do things to get around that but it would probably be more work for you then if you just download the program yourself. I did some searching and found a place where you can download it:
iSCAN
Once you install it do an update on the program. It is probably an older version.

As far as the SD card contents, I can email it in separate folders if you need. The total zipped up size of all of the folders is almost 30 meg which is over the 20 meg limit for most email accounts. But I can send separate folders in multiple emails if that would help you out. I have the original folders saved from my SD card when I first got it. But it looks like you only need the iScan program.

Mine needed to be updated on everything and had a sticker in the battery area that said Feb 2015 build date.

Anytime you want to email a .exe file and your email client blocks it just save it to your hard drive and change it to .txt and email it and let the person on the other end know to change it back to .exe when they get the file and it will work just fine... I have the Pro-668 as well if you need a copy of the file.

Compressing it to a .zip file will also get past this as well since not everyone has file extensions on by default.

Another option would be to zip or rar the entire card contents and upload to Deposit files, or other online file depository.
