Does anyone still have DSP 3.0 who can send it to me or provide a link? Thanks.

Those are the firmware loads. I have those. The DSP versions are separate and the early ones are no longer downloadable from Whistler. Any 3.1 or above has the infamous Trojan that locks the scanner. Actually 3.1 released in June of that year may not have it but the 3.1 rebased in July does. I’d love to have both versions to compare, actually. Version 3.0 is my focus right now. If you saved the contents of the scanner’s RAM the DSP would be it that. The version is determined by the size of the BIN file.

I am aware of the Whistler Trojan and the GREFWTool hack as these issues were discussed some time ago here with negative consequences. I have a PRO-668 running CPU 4.5 & DSP 3.1 with no issues. DMR works but it's stuck at that firmware level as CPU 4.6 will trigger the Trojan.

It would probably be best to send your PRO-668 off to Whistler and pay for the official WS-1080 upgrade. Less hassle and better support in the long run.

I agree with your assessment and am familiar with the past discussions on this board. However, I am a retired EE who used to do machine level and assembly level programming as part of my job in projects at work. My interest here is purely for my own entertainment on how the Trojan was written and maybe even writing my own versions of updates. Purely for my own amusement.

Someone has already been there and done that and whistler did not like them doing so. Legal consequences could follow if you continue to proceed. You have been warned.

Yes, I’m aware of all that went on previously but if it’s for my OWN USE , as I said before, and if I don’t share what I code I fail to see an issue. Do you really think some old fart modifying his own equipment and keeping it to himself is even on Whistler’s radar? Where have I harmed their business or diminished their intellectual property? The WS1080 has been discontinued anyway. I could care less about the DMR licensing issue (if there is one) as there is no DMR traffic around here I want to listen to. I’m more interested in improving performance and modifying or customizing features to suit me. If it’s a problem I’ll toss it and go full home brew SDR.
