I just bought a Pro-96 scanner and was programming some motorola frequencies into it manually and my question is for my county I only show four trunking frequencies, but there are a boat load of other frequencies and talkgroup ID's, how do I know I have the right frequencies for the talkgroups I want to listen to? Thanks for any help.

The frequencies in all trunked systems are shared by all talk groups in that system. In other words, certain frequencies are not specific to specific talk groups. Take a look at the trunking basics article on our Wiki.

Pro-96 Programming Question

I own a Pro-2096, which is the same thing, only not a handheld. Which ever TRS you wish to monitor, lets say... Ohio MARCS..you have to determine which site(s) you are able to monitor, then enter the control channel, and alternate control channels (if you wish) and yes, it needs to be set to MOT. YOu have to at least enter the primary control channels from that site. Once you do that, you should be good to go.

I apologize, some of this sounds confusing. I live in clinton county and more specifically wilmington in clinton county. The database shows three frequencies for that location which I have programmed in my scanner. I am picking up the Highway patrol which is what i want to pick up, but I also notice that there are some correctional facilites and some careflight talkgroups on the page of talkgroup I.D.'s and was wanting to know if I will pick them up also on these three frequencies that I have programmed? Basically I am asking how do I know which talkgroups I will pick up based on the frequencies I select?

I think you answered my question, so basically I can enter the specific frequencies for my area and receive any of the talkgroups on those frequencies?

To hear all the talkgroups from those towers be sure the channel bank is in OPEN mode (shows + under the bank number while scanning).

The rest of it is up to you and listening/learning time.
