PRO-97 Text question

How do I enter text into the scanner so that I know what talk group I am listening to? Can that be done with the 97? Thanks.

You could do it with the software and cable.

Try the 'text' button. I think it's on the left hand side.

You can do it by hand. It's in the owners manual. Hit PGM while in the trunking then T then arrow up or down to the ID of the talk group press text use the number keys to enter the name

So I match the number after ED: with the DEC column in the database. For example, I could change ED: 0275 to Tac 1 or Dispatch or whatever?

Yes. You can do it manually, but it's much easier and faster using the software.

Go into program mode in the desired bank; and press FUNC TRUNK. Use the UP and DOWN arrows to navigate to each TG ID. To enter text for an ID, press TEXT, type the text (2 keys per letter) and press ENTER. Do that for each TG.

Note: during scanning, when the scanner stops on a conversation, if you see the TG ID instead of the text, press TEXT during the conversation.
