I'm lost-I want to monitor the Hollywood Fire Department only. How do I set up the trunking. I went to RadioReference and selected the Fire Dept. I made it a system and it goes something like:

- M HOLLYWOOD FIRE
l
l
l - Sites
l l l____ S Hollywood
l l
l l___________Hollywood Fire
l
l
l
l
- M HOLLYWOOD POLICE

- Sites
l l____ S Hollywood
l
l___________Hollywood Police

And so on.
Under the last Hollywood Fire the groups are listed. I want to be able just to scan the Hollywood Fire and not all of the other stuff on the scanner. I am using the ARC996PRO software.

What am I doing wrong? When I stop on just one site then it does not seem to scan the whole site. Sometimes it just sits there and a interference is heard on the channel. When I hit scan it scans everything in the scanner. I need to just scan the channels on the Fire Dept and sometimes the Police Dept. at the same time. Please advise

You posted in every form just about. All you had to do is post in one forum and when someone goes to new post, they will see your request. What you basically did was flood the forum with the same request. You may get slammed for that. Anyway, you need to provide more information like State, County, and City. Then it would be easier for someone to give you a few suggestions as far as setting up SYSTEM and GROUPS.

Just to give you a quick example on how I do it, I will use Pensacola as my example.

SYSTEM NAME: Pensacola MOT
SITE NAME: Pensacola MOT
GROUP NAME: Pensacola Police
GROUP NAME Pensacola Fire

Under my groups I will have Dispatch, Tac1, etc. This is where your frequency or ID is entered.

On the 996 the System name and Group name will flash between the names.
Pensacola MOT----Pensacola Police--- Pensacola MOT----Pensacola Police---

The same would also be for fire groups. I monitor Pensacola MOT and I have Groups 1 and 2 active. If I want to only monitor fire, I turn off Group 1, NOT the Pensacola system.

I’m not the best to explain this; there are examples in the forum, that’s how I learned. Plus messing with the software will also give you a better understanding. I used the Uniden software for programming my radios. The best way I learned was to look at the Pre-load systems and see how it was done.
