How do I program the Hartford County state police without programming all the other troops etc. , I just pasted all the state police into my folder but it seems like way too much for scanner to sift through, so how would I just do the hartford county instead of the whole state.

What State?
Being that Connecticut is the only state with a Hartford County I'll go with that.

How do I program the Hartford County state police without programming all the other troops etc.
I did some research and found that Troop H appears to encompass Hartford County. With that said, program only the talkgroups listed below, nothing else. I omitted fully encrypted Troop H talkgroups (Mode "TE") since no scanner will be able to track them. Program also Troop H Simulcast. Turn off ID search if your scanner utilizes it so traffic from unprogrammed talkgroups doesn't come through

35115fTCSP Trp H DISP 1Troop H Dispatch 1Law Dispatch
353161TCSP Trp H DISP 2Troop H Dispatch 2Law Tac
551227TCSP Trp H/BDL 1Troop H/BDL Dispatch 1Law Dispatch
553229TCSP Trp H/BDL 2Troop H/BDL Dispatch 2Law Tac

If you need further assistance then you'll need to reply back with model scanner (assuming Uniden given where this is posted) as well as how you're programming (software, what app? by hand, etc)

I used to live in ct and you are correct…troop h is right but user might want to add troop k and some others depending on his physical location. and I suggest going to the ct forum and asking.

Program the Connecticut Land Mobile Radio Network (CLMRN) into the scanner and then “AVOID” all the talkgroups (TG’s) you don’t care to monitor. The sites are also done in the same manner should you want to AVOID any of them. The entire system will reside in your radio’s memory and allow you to AVOID or UNAVOID at you pleasure. CLMRN also has subscribers other than state police. And they can also be managed either with the quick keys or adding another FL.

I live & listen in the K area

I agree with putting in troop K, becuz if H has a chase etc & it goes down 384 east, The K line is bolton

Also, I would suggest putting in Troop C, becuz if a chase goes down 84 east towards vernon, That is the C line

The radio has the capacity to program everything and then control it with Quick Keys. Like Bill had mentioned, I would agree setting it up as a Favorite List and but shut off everything else with Quick Keys. Avoiding is not the best option as turning on a locked out group is not quick.
However you do it, to get the best results, learn how use Quick Keys for Systems, Sites, and talkgroups.

Thank you for the correction. I have apparently incorrect for many years.
None of which applies because we are on the Connecticut Radio Discussion Forum page… a state that only has one formerly named Hartford County. We still use the differing county names in Ct. but have abandoned the county form of government years ago.

" Ct. but have abandoned the county form of government years ago" and to some degree, the result is that "Birmingham Unified Public Services District" never came to pass. A great big $$ study from the 70s which strongly recommended that Ansonia, Derby, Seymour, Naugatuck (and I forget who else) have consolidated Police, Fire and EMS services. But, as good as the study was, no one wanted to part with their fiefdom.

Interesting, the “Birmingham Unified Public Services District”, as I’ve never heard of it. (I live a sheltered life… something that was conveyed to me when I applied for security clearances at P&WA. The investigator mentioned he had literally zero background on me other than common info required at a state level and what I supplied on the application. And while I had a passport, I never used it! Most of the people he processed were former military and had records-I was never in the military. He had one question for me… “Who ARE you?”

So, having never heard of the Birmingham District, the only thing I remember about the abolishment of the country form of Govt in Ct. was what I took for the reason for the abolishment, the Ct. Sheriff’s Dept. There was a stink over how the counties high sheriff’s depts were run, with deputies all required to donate to the high sheriff’s re-election campaign. And that issue caused the state to re-evaluate the country form of govt. I could be wrong, but that’s how I remember it.

Sorry for late replies so the scanner is the sds200, state is CT and the software is sentinel, seems I can get troop H very well and just needed to limit the amount of extra talk groups or channels and towns for a faster scan.
