Make sure that you have frequencies to upload to the scanner in the program.I get this on the radio when I hit "Upload to..."
Do you have the latest version of WIN97? There is a difference between the Pro-97 and the Pro-164 as far as the data format, so you need to be able to use the correct upload command for the scanner. The latest version should be available at Software for RadioShack PRO-series (PRO-92, 93, 95, 96, 97, 99, 163, 164, 106, 197) and GRE PSR-series (PSR-500, 600, 300, 400) scannersI still cannot get it to program.
Besure to to select the Pro164 from the drop down list.I program my 106 with the Win 500 using the same cable.
I have tried to program the 164 with the Win97 with no luck. I'm using COM port 4 (same as I use with the 106).
EDIT: Never mind. Reread the post that you are using the cable from the 106. Same cable for the 164. Presuming of course, that you are using it without the jumper cable. It needs the stereo end to work. Make sure it plugs into the PC/IF port on the side of the radio.I have the Win97 software and the RadioShack cable and I cannot program it... Anyone else having trouble???
