Programming Pro-97

Have you loaded the drivers for the cable? What about setting the COM port? What is the message you get from the software?

I program my 106 with the Win 500 using the same cable.

I have tried to program the 164 with the Win97 with no luck. I'm using COM port 4 (same as I use with the 106).

I get this on the radio when I hit "Upload to..."
Icorrect model!
Remove cable

Make sure that you have frequencies to upload to the scanner in the program.
Make sure that the com port is set to the proper port number under the configuration tab.
Then click on the 163/164 upload to scanner:)

Besure to to select the Pro164 from the drop down list.

Use the stereo plug on the end of the usb cable.

Test connection by downloading from scanner first.

EDIT: Never mind. Reread the post that you are using the cable from the 106. Same cable for the 164. Presuming of course, that you are using it without the jumper cable. It needs the stereo end to work. Make sure it plugs into the PC/IF port on the side of the radio.:)

You are using the USB cable, part# 20-047, not the RS232 serial cable that was used for the 97? If so, the radio and the software will not work together. The 163/164 radios need the newer cable to work with the software.
