Hello all,
Having a problem trying to program in frequencies to my Uniden BCD325P2. I have programed conventional scanners before and had no problem. However when entering in the controls and frequencies, the trunking system does not work properly for me. I am able to hear some chatter but it comes in unrecognizable and in incomplete messages. I have heard in Linden where I am located, because of tower placement interfering with each other this happens. Something about the signal to the scanner coming from too many directions is this true? Any help is appreciated.

Yes, send your 325 back and buy an SDS100. What you are describing is simulcast distortion. Scan through these forums for the subject and you’ll find an endless amount of info.

Here's a map for the Union County Simulcast site:

The signals from those various towers arrive at your scanner at different times, out of sync just enough that it cannot handle them & receive clearly.

You might try using a different antenna. One that is not so effective. I have the same radio but am not bothered by simulcast in central Ct… just lucky I guess. (We have a statewide system called CT LAND MOBILE RADIO NETWORK [CLMRN] that is P25 Phase II. As the other post states, susceptible to simulcast.)

My friend who moved to Florida is a snowbird, spends his summers in Ct. He also has the 325P2 and I’m hoping when he gets back to Florida (where they run a simulcast susceptible system in his county) he won’t be bothered by simulcast. He’s not home yet where he can check it out. We both have our fingers crossed. I recommended the radio as a cheaper alternative to the SDS100. And I don’t think he can send it back to Amazon-has had it for about two months… have to check Amazon’s return policy. So I could be in trouble advising what I did. And I got no replies on the regional forum for the Florida county when I asked about simulcast.
